Intake repair suggestions?
« on: July 07, 2008, 01:09:16 PM »
Any local shops fix these? Havasu?  How do these fins effect the pump function?

Thanks!

I fixed one like that with sea goin and epoxy putty. Haven't tried it yet so I don't know if it's gonna hold up yet, if not out comes the motor, pump, and get it welded  :-\

Otherwise it's gonna have to come out . It's not open heart surgery , but a little tougherthan a hang nail .

With that many ponies I'd also suggest letting a pro reset the intake .

Yea, I was hoping to weld a peice on to finish the summer, then take it to MPD. Jack did the original work and I need it to load just a little quicker now with the new motor.

Don't weld on it while it's still installed!!!!!!!!! :screwy: That will screw up the seal!!! That epoxy doesn't take the heat to well, plus the expansion rate of the aluminum will cause it to start to separate from the hull. :banghead:

If you're that concerned about fixing the fin, take the intake out and do it right the first time!!! If you're good, it could be a one or two week job. If you're me, it will turn into a 7 month job. :banghead: :banghead: Of course I didn't have all my parts to form a running boat when I pulled the intake out, after discovering the seal was bad, after I had most of the major components installed in the boat. :banghead:

Good luck.

It's a 540, 1071. dynoed 944HP W/51 pulley and 1012 W/56 @ 6700RPM. Ran it for the first time last weekend, runs good! Been working on it for over a year and got lots of good info. here on the site. trying to post build in the galleries but keeps kicking back. Trying to attach a photo to this post and it does the same. Any suggestions? will try again. Will drop in at the AVI bash next weekend.

Thanks

Taco'd "a person or people that show up with one lake lice and a family of 50 and cram 3 people at a time on it with no disregard to boating rules or ethics. Usualy crap in toilets and throw shit paper in trash cans. Hang out at the boat ramp like its a swimming hole. Have zero insurance on anything they own and dont give two shits less about your property."

Was flipping through some old papers and found that you could buy the intake fins for the 12JE and 12JF's that bolted through the hull, maybe you could adapt?

They were part #0203-B-06920 From Berkeley, maybe someone has some NOS they want to get rid of.
