I talked to jack a mpd about motor  placement  on a liberty  bottom  boat . He told me to set the pump as far back as the transom adaptet would allow and to use a 1310 spicer and set the motor infront of that . This is the pto i have  not sure if it is a 1310 .

That looks different than mine. I just rebuilt it this past weekend.

Thats an old style rockwell driveline without a pto(direct bolt on).  They came in two sizes...short for the 3 point mount and long for the 4. The newer 1310 plus pto should be about same length. I would go that route to have the ability to disconnect drive to run engine on trailer.
