i just picked up my boat tonight and noticed that the "steering nozzle" is loose and moves side to side with out moving the "steering lever" on the jet. it seems as if there is a pin holding that part of the jet on. my question is, can that be bushed or shimmed up with out replacing the whole shabang? my idea sounds good in my head but as you can see by the time this is posted that i dont have time to mess with the issue right now. any help or similer problems that have been over come would be great, pictures are even better. thanks  :screwy:

Do you have a photo of what you are talking about?  How much movement are you talking about?

When I bought mine it did the same thing I replaced it and the replacement one had brass bushings in it. from how clean it was done (nozzle was drilled and the bushings were pressed in, I would say its a common fix and it worked great until I replaced the whole setup with a place diverter.

i dont have a photo yet, i will get one soon. the nozzle moves about 1/2" to 3/4" back and forth, the pin is moving about 1/16" to 1/8" it might be fine it just feels weird.

I think DOZZR has the answer, a pressed in bushing may be the answer.

i know they make plastic bushings that slide in and take up the slack...

I just replaced all my bushing's on the nozzle( got 'em from Tom) and it made a huge difference.But one thing I did do is it was made with the bushings on the outside of the pins only,now because my squirt may have been a bit more worn than normal...I trimmed the bushings so I could put 2 on each pin...one on the inside AND one on the outside.This in turn took out ALL the side to side movement.It's sweet now!  ;D

If this is a stock WJ Jacuzzi nozzle we talking about, than this is a pretty common problem. The steering lever is held on a vertical 3/4 Pin then that pin is secured to the deflector(steering nozzle)  with either a 1/4" Roll pin or a solid taper fit 1/4" pin.  Over time the 1/4" pin wallows out the aluminum in the deflector.  We usually correct this by Tapping the 3/4" pin to 5/16-18 threads and using a bolt to secure it to the deflector.

so knock out the 1/4" roll pin and drill and tap for a 5/16-18  bolt? that sounds like a good idea. as far as i know the jet is bone ass stock. i will be calling JBP this afternoon, i just missed Tom's call about my new steering cable and rack. i will try and get some pictures tonight of the boat and post them.
