Jetovator
« on: August 20, 2008, 01:09:17 PM »
I have been thinking about this for a while. Can somebody explain to me why I see or read about on some Berkeley pumps that had a jetovator installed have the bowls turn 90 degrees? I dont think I have ever seen one hooked up and working right, Thay always say that " it was like that because of the jetovator" Does some one have a pics of one that works?

I have a Berkley jet o vator, but no pics.  The reason the the bowl is turned 180* is the jet o vator pivits up and down at that point.  In stock position, the steering pivits left to right at that point.  The place diverter leaves the bowl in the stock position because it steers at that pivit point and pivits up and down at the next point, so the whole unit turns before it trims.  The Berk jet o vator trims up and down and just the nozzel turns to turn the boat.
I believe that most would pick the Place Diverter over the jet a vator.

If you look at this thread http://www.socaljetboats.com/index.php?topic=4790.0 in the second picture in the thread is a jet-o-vator set-up with a split bowl. Notice the extra arm, linkage and different steering tube. If you look at the Place Diverter it is a much siplified version by only using a single cable, no linkage and a shifter(seen here----> http://www.cpperformance.com/detail.aspx?ID=1971 ). The jet-o-vator also incorporates the steering into its linkage as the Place does not. Like stated above the jet-o-vator pivots at the bowl and the Place Diverter pivots at a seperate axis after the bowl. The Place Diverter is a modern version of a trimmable nozzle that can be manually or hydraulically operated. We have a special going on for members on the boards right now as well, 599.00 $ for a manual 12JC/JG kit.

Today, everyone uses a Place Diverter. Different animal, and far superior.

However, IF you have an old JetOVater, I can help, or Tom can from JBP. Free is cheapest yet, and JetOVaters can work just fine.

Depends on WHAT you have...........Post some pics and we can tell you in a heartbeat. The JetOvater is far more complicated than a Place Diverter, and requires a LOT of special parts.

Edit: Sounds to me, and I just saw the "key slot" part of the post, you have a nozzle for a YJ Jacuzzi pump......maybe.......
