Spit bowl questions
« on: June 25, 2014, 01:44:36 PM »
Hi All,

I have a great condition 12JC Pump for my rogers, but i really need a split bowl. My question is can i just simply buy any split bowl and bolt it on? Or amn i stuck with only one style?

Im also looking at picking up a Legend 8 vane split bowl with studs from the other site but i dont know if this will work on my 12jc pump?

Anyone have a split bowl they wanna sell?

thnaks

Look for a dominator or Berkley bud. Or you can fork out 1000$ for an AMT 9.5 bowl ;) 🙀👍👍👍🚤💨💨💨💨

Ya you can use a dominator bowl or the berkeleys, The Berkeley bowls that u can use are the G bowl and the B bowl. Both of those will allow you to switch over to a split bowl set up.

Or a modified split c bowl (sold one last year)... I have an early aggressor 9 that worked with my jc and fit the trans adapter as well. Some of the other splits will fit but machining needs to be done.  I have another 9 on the shelf for backup.

I have a stupid question.

Why do you "need" a split bowl?

I have one here, it is actually a complete pump, I have two complete pumps, a JC and a JG.

What are you trying to achieve?

Hey maverick

I talked to Chris at b1 today about doing my intake, and ride plate. While talking to him the goals of my engine and where I will use it came up along with what jet I have. I told him I have a JC and he highly recommended going to a split bowl. Especially since  shooting for the 700 HP mark. So with the power goals and what not he says to not use the JC and that he doesn't recommend setting a ride plate up with a JC. I'm paraphrasing and he didn't say exactly that. Just that its a lot easier with a split bow

OK, that makes some sense, he want's to build the ride plate to a bulkhead plate on the end of the bowl, it can be done and has, but many people "think" they need a G bowl when in reality they don't.

How are you getting to your HP goal? (what kind of rev's we talkin'?).

This will determine more about how you build the pump than virtually anything else.

I would have to look at the build again but if j remember correctly the power was around 6500-7k I'll get the link and post it up. Should be healthy as hell

Healthy as hell, but hard to get hooked up.

Going to recommend you find a 9 vane bowl, probably OK with a Berk stainless impeller, but stuff the snot out of it. May even consider an inducing impeller, she won't stay hooked otherwise.

Sound like fun. If you can build some HP in the mid 5000's you will be much better off.... Once you get passed around 6,000 RPM the impeller efficiency really takes a crap. The turbine powered guys are even running them at about 6,100 RPM. And they're seeing speeds in the 150 MPH range... :o

I keep telling you guys it takes torque to turn the jet pumps... Look at where that dyno sheet crosses HP and torque... :sly:

That motor is going to stop like a Donkey taking a dump at about 5,400 RPM. Be one seriously bitchen v-drive motor though...

I recommend rethinking the cam... Big time.

Just my opinion, but seen it 100X before.

Definitely solid roller. Let me check it out for a few... In all honesty, probably NOT going to be an off the shelf stick, although I know of some in stock cams that kick ass...

Yeah I emailed comp. They recommended a custom grind. Something around 240/250 112 LSA and 600" lift or so. They want 389.99 for a custom solid roller billet cam.

Work with Starkweaher on the cam/motor/ jet combo. It's what I did. I made. 625 on the dyno and spin a b- to 6300 to 6400 on a good air day. Chris knows his shit. Guy made my heavy pile run into the 90's all motor.
