Projects / Re: 71 kona project
« on: April 28, 2013, 03:25:33 PM »
Well got it all sanded and shaped ready for paint..... then I saw something. So out comes the dreaded screwdriver test and bam it happened again. Guess I got a little carried away when shaping the strake and got it thin. Here comes another 4-6 small strips of glass. The hole is maybe a 1/16 in diameter but the thin area is about 3/16 overall. Oh how I love boats

I could not answer the phone due to fiberglass resin literally everywhere...

I would stick with you're Kona, but only because you feel more comfortable with the extra room.

I am 6'6" and 240#, room is good8)

Sent from my SGH-T989 using SoCalJetBoats mobile app

Yah that's what's stuck in my head about the room. And it's all good, I did however have some grease on my finger and as fast as I was pushing end it was calling back. Didn't mean to blow up your phone with 5 calls. Dam touch screens and dumb phones.

It'd be nice to keep both and have both but I'm not in a position financially and room wise to have 2. I'm lucky the wife lets me have 1 and spend money on it considering shes not working any more so I'm not pushing it with 2. And the kona does ride pretty nice and I dig the colors.

So after looking and going over things this new hull of mine is pretty solid. Now I really like my kona although I only took it out 3 times, I'm pretty attached I guess because of all The damn work. The kona is 18 on the dot and this new one is 19'2, but the seating area on the kona is just over a foot and a half longer and a foot wider. Doesn't seem like much but it is. So basically I'm going through this thing and the thought of keeping it and selling the kona is in my mind. Its alittle narrower and longer and has that "fast" look to it opposed to the kona looking like a little family ski boat. What do you guys think?

#3, starter slave solenoid.

Why it gotta be a slave Glenn

Item one is a ballast resistor for the coil, item 3 is a ford style starter relay. And item 2, no idea.

I got one of them somewhere. Just saw it a few days ago before I tore my garage apart. Came off a regular reverse bucket if it matters? You could also use a heim joint instead.

I have had 3 trucks in the last 6 years with the 6.0. An 02, 04,and now an 07. All 2500 Chevys single cab with a service body and ladder rack loaded with ladders. Like gt said they will and do get up and go. Even though my trucks all were heavily loaded with stuff and the giant air dam on top Ill get about 8-12 on the street and heading to Palm Springs at 75 ill get maybe 15-18 until you throw wind into the equation. On a 32 gallon tank ill get about 400-450 miles out of it. And that's from full to past empty, sometimes ill put 34 gallons into it and its only a "32 gallon" tank. Wired right

The hull will be goin up for grabs for 700 on Craig's but 500 for Scjb on a single axle with title. Tanks and intake included with hull.  Found the last registered owner on face book, hoping he responds to get some info. Looking around it looks like a "ranger".

Some day time pictures, boats a 1976 19 foot made buy sun manufacturing. Snapped a pic of the bowel I don't think it's a b bowel because of how far apart the fill holes are. Also tried to get a pic of the deck bump

The je has a different suction housing that's grafted into the back of hull/bottom opposed to a suction/intake bolted to the bottom

nice.  are you going to finish the other one or just chock it up as a loss?

No I like the kona more, it's a little wider and longer in the seating area compared to this one but this ones got a good extra foot in overall length. I like my little booger. A lot of time and swear words went into it.

Yup, 460. block, crank, rods, dual carbs, the timing cover, Dooley pan and scoop and valve covers. Heads and tunnel ram were not included. But she's complete minus motor.

Wife approved of this one before I went to get it, not like the other one where I just showed up and was like " hey I got a boat".

Gonna take the pump and motor crap and trailer. Then drop this hull on my single axle and get rid of it

So I couldn't say no, I almost feel bad for the guy I got it from. Lets say I paid a little more for this than I did my other one.
