Exactly what I was thinking. You guys are like a mob attacking the poor dude who never said he was "rolling coal" he just made a reference to it. And come on all you diesel owners out there are gonna sit there and say you've never thought about doing it to someone who pisses you off on the road ?? I own a duramax and have friends who have them as well. We're not assholes but is be lying if I said I didn't blow a little smoke at a buddy. There's a big difference between people abuse it and people who don't have a choice as in pulling uphill on boost and people are riding bikes or jogging uphill. My point is you don't know if he is doing it or not so why jump on the guy ?? That's not what this site is about

there is proof... he has a letter stating that his truck was seen with a huge cloud of smoke coming off of it.  someone obviously felt so strongly about it that they reported it.  then he goes on to say that he has a whole tune dedicated to making as much smoke as possible.  and then owns up to actually doing it.  what else do you need?  a video?

I don't know how all you guys own these diesel trucks and have never wanted to blow a lil cloud at the Honda civic with his stanced out cambered in wheels riding your ass. Or that asshole walking in the middle of the street for no reason. Or the guy next to you with his bass turned all the way up. All diesels are gonna put out a lil, excess is stupid especially if your already on boost, but I know I'm gonna get some shit for this but I think if someone wants to be idiot I think they might deserve a lil.

i dont go out of my way to piss other people off.  thats all i need is some punk kid trying to run me and my family off the road or hitting my truck, etc all because i decided to do something stupid.  i have no problem with people being fast, loud, low, high, etc... just dont ruin my fun.

well i guess everyone is entitled to there on opion you should drive a fast diesel then you will realize how retarded it is

a fast diesel is a CLEAN burning diesel.  not a crappy tuned black smoke burning diesel.

ya i can switch the tune to one that doesnt smoke

bingo.  you have the "i wanna be annoying" tune.  get popped again and you'll be off to the CHP inspection station/smog ref with some hefty fines.

Dang.
Imagine if that was at launch ramp 6 in havasu....

I didn't see a trailer...

they put the boat in the water, looks like dude went to back up... throttle pegs and he goes full blast into reverse then he shoves it into forward and beaches it up the ramp.  id like to say "oh just turn the motor off" but who knows if you could react fast enough.  the whole thing happens in a matter of seconds.

not sure if anyone actually came out and said it was a throttle issue, or a driver is a moron issue.  either way the damage doesnt look TOO bad.

i wouldnt imagine a jet boat would be hard to spot in oklahoma city... pretty much anything to the west of the colorado jet boats get pretty scarce.  at any rate, thieves suck.

do you also have to run a water "dump" or just out the riser?

everything goes out the risers.  no dump.

hey Kayotk

Since youve had it out a few times, hows the cooling working out for you?

Can you give me a run down of how yours is setup? Im thinking about tossing the waterpump when i do my center riser conversion, and could use some info on your setup.

from the pictures it looks like you are running a Y from the drive to the bottom of the manifolds.

From the manifolds, to the waterpump inlets,

then through the intake and out to the risers?

Is this correct? Whats the operating temp like?

thanks

yup thats pretty much how it all is plumbed up.  in the few times i have had it out, theres been 0 cooling issues.  The stock water pump and thermostat housing is basically to recirculate water in the system that is already warmed up.  It does run a little cool but at the same time my oil temps get hot enough to see whatever moisture is in the oil system to turn into steam out of my valve cover breathers.   everything is -10 (1/2") hose and there is PLENTY of water coming out the back to cool the exhaust.

does it really matter?  even if you had the trailer jacked all the way up you'd only be adding an extra what... half quart?  which is probably a good thing running at high rpms all the time and running the pan low.

Personally...I like the sides and back to sit inside the hull making it more flush.

yeah it took a LOT of time and measuring to make mine sit flush.  as you already know, nothing on a boat is straight.  its all curves, slanted, angled, etc.  and completely different on each side.  my hand planer got a LOT of work trimming it to fit properly.

build frame. u can use plywood, the 2x4 in mine is a little overkill.

skin frame with plywood.  if you have curves do layers and put a layer of glass and resin inbetween them.

all the pieces

fiberglassing together

3 layers of 1/8" plywood with 3 layers of fiberglass

strong enough to stand on now

outside done, ill eventually cover it with foam and vinyl

inside carpeted

just gotta get some gas struts to hold it up.  the hinges are just regular hatch hinges from hardin marine/cpperformance.

I got the Auto Meter Procomp marine set from CP performance.

Real nice looking, and work great so far!

it looks like they dont fit in the holes... you need to find a set of trim rings.

2 months?  just hook it up and drive it away.  that'll get their attention.

Hulls / Re: Before I start...
« on: August 14, 2014, 10:36:12 PM »
i would personally remove the existing bow eye... drill and clean up the holes and get em to fresh glass... then the crappy part.  crawl up inside the bow and with a dremel or angle grinder, grind the inside of the hull around those holes clean.  id take some painters tape and cover the holes on the front.  id trim a 2x4 to match the "V" in the front of the hull and then i would take thickened epoxy (because epoxy has actual strength to it where poly doesnt, and epoxy will stick to pretty much anything) and epoxy the holes shut and create a "bed" for the 2x4 to sit in.  once its all dry and kicked, redrill the bow eye holes and use large washers on teh inside. the 2x4 on the inside will give strength to the bow eye and spread the load.
