Bottom line...rolling coal isn't as cool as people think. Just like the stupid tug of war contests....proves nothing. Being able to belch a black cloud on demand seems very childish...in fact is doing more harm than good...getting the air quality people to focus more on diesels than they need to....sure, there are other reasons....but we don't Joe public filing complaints about Joe wannabe cool spewing emissions all over the place.
You've got the notice. Continue being "the cool guy"...maybe you'll get another...maybe never again...in the meantime, you're giving diesels a bad name and sh!ting on the community.
Time to be a man....pull your pants up.
Well, My junk is old, 6.9 with a turbo smokes when your out of range, that 3rd-4th shift is a canyon, no aneroid, and it might 'roll coal' at 16- 2200 rpms, I just don't use as much loud pedal then... (turbo'd, tickled and straight piped since 1985, 250 hp or so)
The old Pete has a turbo as big as a berkeley pump, Its tickled, too, maybe 335 hp or so, and may take a while to spool up
After you drive the old Pete, w/ 5+4 trans's, Ill hand you your big girl panties back.
If your tail gating me, ya might see black fog (OOPS, I missed a gear

)
My newer junk is bone stock, (kitty ran away, muffler fell out) 500K on one, 270K on the other, both PSD 7.3's, (and no smoke, or very little) Best motor ever put in a Ford truck says International all over it.
I drive in CA too much to ahve CHP or DOT on my azz...
