 My bud has towed a few of my boats before with his old Nissan Xterra.

No problems doing it, although the 21' Biesemeyer Mini-Day had his brakes smoking quite a bit headed down the hill to Bartlett Lake I guess. (Surge brakes weren't working on the trailer at the time.) The 18-20 footers towed fine.

Your fuel vent is most likely the fuel flip top... I have a bow fill and the cap is the vent as well.

A couple of mine had flush, screw in style that ALSO were vented.

My experience has been that a 750CFM seems to work very well on a stock (marine) 460 (320HP) in most cases. I wouldn't, personally, run under that in a jet boat since we run them in the 3500-5500 rpm range all the time. The max rpm rating on a standard Hardin Marine 460 is 4600, and a carb smaller than 750 CFM definately helps keep the RPMs under that in small, light boats. They came (At least the unmolested ones I have seen or had) stock with a 650 CFM or 700 CFM and one of the first things swapped up to a 750 or above on any you see these days.

Probably more a warranty deal than anything else on those. They'll spin well over 5000 handily in stock form. Kinda weird that Ford threw on their best square-bore CJ manifold (which is kinda hard to beat from the aftermarket, to be honest) and Hardin stovepiped it with a small carbueretor.

Mildly warmed over to some pretty hot machines will appreciate and wake up with an 850, however, and likely not "over-carb" a stock one either when tuned properly.

Start getting radical on cams, high compression, stoker kits, headers, intakes, etc, you start to get into 950 CFM or 1050+CFM Dominators pretty quick.

First off, your boat IS a pig. And I get that. A pretty pig, mind you, and it would take a lot to convince me to take a sawzall to it........ and all the subsequent work to support it........

John, leave it alone. The boat is fine, your taste has changed. Personally, I think you need to be looking for a good open bow 19-20 footer. Same as Flytime, but just don't eliminate "pink" in the colors!   

I get that the boat has become part of the family. Imagine how hard it was to sell the Moo boat!!!

Looks to me, and Crewcheif I think nailed it, I'd bet someone over-greased the fitting blowing out the seal to cause all that.

As Daniel said though, I'd also find it hard to beleive this would cause the suction housing to be toast. They have a nylon "interference" ring well before the wear ring and it would take a TON of neglect to wear through that AND the wear ring even get remotely even close to the suction housing.

Methinks someone is trying to make a few extra bucks in this economy off you, IMHO.

Now, I know we have some members who also happen to be LEO, and I mean no offense personally, just generally, but when, exactly, did being a complete asswipe go from preferred pre-requisite to job requirement to become a cop?

In traffic court today dealing with my own issue of driving on a suspended license (that WASN'T suspended anymore, just a DMV issue that still isn't resolved with the DMV for whatever reason), but anyway, listening to some of the things others had happen (All of these were from Gilbert, Arizona, BTW.......I have to point that out because the Judge today was actually personable compared to the jackass that's normally there) I hadda laugh out loud in court......

Further proof that many Law Enforcement departments are simply revenue generators and collect "taxation without representation".

Guy 1. Ticket for no seatbelt. He was stopped at 2:15 AM (go figure) for changing lanes without signaling. Cop asked for his insurance card and he removed his seatbelt to retreive it from the glovebox. Judge says, "well the fine is only $85, and no points so why fight it?". Guy says, and I quote, "Because it's just not right. I want a trial, I'll get a lawyer, get the video from the cruiser of the stop, and I don't care if it costs me ten times that".  "Case Dismissed" was the next thing said.

Gal 2. Ticket for failure to stop for LEO and attempting to elude Police. Girl was stopped, again late, reason why I didn't catch. But cop comes to the window, askes for license/registration/insurance, she reaches over for her purse not realizing she had not put the car in park when she stopped, so car rolled forward, up onto a curb about 15 feet from where she had originally stopped before she realized her mistake and stopped the car. Judge was actually trying hard not to laugh, but managed "case dismissed" before actually laughing.

Guy3. Ticket for expired plates. This was actually a second ticket, the first he got dismissed the prior week because he brought in that he had, in fact renewed his registration. THIS ticket he got 1/2 block away from his house while driving a couple days later TO the DMV to renew the tags. He produced his DMV receipts and the original ticket, as well as the secondary ticket showing the dates and times. "case dismissed".

I mean, really. First off, we're wasting time, payroll of tax-paid employees, resources such as PAPER, not to mention the waste of time the officers are doing to themselves, and causing grief and loss of income of the general public to even deal with stupid crap like this. Just one of those Facepalm moments, but then I realized "I just wonder HOW many people actually simply pay the damn fine and be done with it rather than deal with wasting an entire day or two standing up for what is right? And HOW much revenue do they actually generate because of this?

Fortunately, mine was over and done early, and unfortunately, I didn't have to sit and listen to more of these.

I'm sure there's a ton more stories out there, POST'EM UP!

its probably just a v bottom with sponsons grafted on it. the transom flip up thing looks dumb too.

I actually wonder if this is 1 solid hull....or if it was someones attempt at Frankensteining a look of a tunnel hull out of their shitbox vbottom.

either way, its unpractical. why? because if it was a good idea, there would be more than one of them out there. rare doesnt always mean better.

I looked at one like that back east about the time of my dad's funeral.

Dunno who made 'em, but a picklefork V-bottom is like having a "Hard-on at boys town"............
