 ;D  Well it took 4 hours but the new loader is installed.  What a cluster  :mad:  to get to the inside bolts both inside and outside the boat :banghead:

But all's well that ends well, I trimmed off the base just a tad so it fit perfectly and got it bolted down and nutted inside.  ;D

All I can say is I'd hate to install them for a living!   I hope it was worth the effort.  I should know in a day or so.  It's supposed to be 85 and sunny here in pa for 4 days in a row  ;D ;D ;D ;D

Never put wing nuts where they can go down the spout!  Find another way, period.

if your boat makes little waves from the vibrations. 

The bass in my sons Mustang would bounce a quarter right off the sun roof.  I can just guess
what that would do to a boat.   ::)

The place diverter and bowl are painted and installed.  They look like new  :)
I have the pump in and plumbed.  I had to order bolts for the loader so I'm waiting
on them. 
I'm not putting the manifolds on till I get the nuts on the inside of the loader bolts.

  I can't put the battery in to try the diverter till the logs are on, so we're in a holding pattern.

The boat should be ready to get wet sometime next week easily.

We go for the other CV-23 Friday and will be back with it Saturday.

We'll be installing the engine ASAP.   It's going to be a busy week or so.   

Oh and Tom, the old impeller was in a lot worse shape than I could feel from the clean out hole.
I'm glad I made the change.

Bang on one side to turn it then channel locks to pull the old one out.

I would definately use permatex sealer on the new one.  Your plan on the socket is a
good one.  Start it that way then just tap around the outer edge to finish it off.

Hard to figure why there wouldn't be a drain on both sides of the block though.

The engine shuts off, hose opens up.  vvrrrooommmm till you put rpms to it.

That even happened to my FORD..... ;D

Isn't neutral just a division of flow between forward and reverse?   You never stop the flow so
wouldn't that mean your gate is out of adjustment if your boat won't sit still?

If it isn't down far enough in neutral to stop the boat from going forward then maybe it's just approaching neutral when you put it in reverse.

I had the button out one day and had neutral full time while reving up the engine.  It would JUST
go backwards and that's about it.

Sounds like what you have.   ;)

But you say the gate is fully closed when it's barely in reverse???   What happens in FULL reverse? 
Any thing different?  Did you check to see if it pulls the gate back up?

So is poor reverse a normal thing for the place diverter?    I was finishing up mine today
painting and drilling and I noticed a definate differance in reverse piping.

The berkeley has a longer piping run to the rear than the place diverter.

What do you guys think?  Did you notice a differance for the better or worse?

If you ran it with last years oil I would take it out for a short run again with the fresh.
You may have just cleaned out the winters worth of condensation.

If it kicks I would have to say it's not bad.  I would be checking for proper wiring.  Do you have a good ground to the block also?

Why do you have to run it before you go to the lake?  Why not just make sure it fires and
shut it down?

It's as likely not to work after testing it on the trailer as it is if you don't.

They work till they break and that can be any time, any where.

Tom, the loader fits like a glove.  I put the old bolts in the front to check fit.  It is within 1/8 inch
of the bottom of the boat.  It's above the bottom, inside the intake.

It was a good day.  My little poor mans strap wrench worked to perfection and the job is done.
The key way was fine.  The impeller came off with out heat or swearing  ;D

The rock grate even came off with no hassle!  3/8 extension with the phillips head and bang it with the hammer to loosen it up.

They all came right out!  I would have guessed 2 or 3 but never all 4.  This thing is a 1977  :o
So it was a goooood day.

Tom's new loader fits like a glove, I'll get longer bolts and finish the job this week.
