The only info you have given us to go by is that it is actually a 427, not a 454 if it has a 427 crank,, bores are the same.

You need to supply more details if you want any kind of valid opinion on value, power, worth buying, etc?

Did the cam go in straight up?  Degreed to verify that it was right?  Spring pressure sounds slightly softer than I might have gone, but shouldn't float at 4900. 

I am not a real Ford guy, but that's about how much cam I would put in a similar mild 454/468 Chevy, so would personally go with more duration with the over 500 inch engine, and probably more lift.  Also, you didn't mention what the lobe center is on the cam.

Good thing you checked, guess you need some longer ones like ARP or something.  Might want to check pushrod length while you are at it.

What's the trade in value of a slightly used 4150 intake, 950HP carb worked by C&J carbs, scoop, throttle bracket the whole enchilada, for the 4500 intake and 1050?

Yep,, if you loosen the "sideways" bolts. the stud girdle will come off.  Then you will want to look at everything pretty close, including the rocker stud.  If the rocker just failed, you may not see any other problems with the other valves and rocker arms.

I imagine Chris told you what to have the springs installed at, so you may want to verify that with the shop that did the assembly.  I guess you really need someone with a little more experience to take a look at what's going on.

I may be able to loan you a manifold with option to buy.  Possibly a carb for loan also, but would need to check it out to see if it's suitable for your engine.

Well, Sean brought the boat by today so I could look at it with him.  He has an electric Holley pump, fuel pressure gauge on the dash, and one float set slightly too high so it was dumping fuel as soon as the key was on.  He didn't have a hose adapter for it, and I don't typically work on boats here, so we fired it just once for two seconds to make sure it would fire right up.  I pointed out some cracked vacuum caps that need replacing, and we also discussed a bunch of modifications that he can do to plumbing as money allows, and worked on a couple of blower guard brackets that were touching the blower belt.  Sent him off to Rex Marine with a parts list to replace a funky looking fuel line to his fuel log, after spotting a cracked aluminum fitting that would have left him stranded somewhere.  It is jet ski day at Puddingstone, so no easy way to test it close by today, will have a full report after it runs someplace.

I will step in and say that although it will run with 5-6 lbs fuel pressure at idle, I would want more than that since you stated it's a blown engine. 

Furthermore, I would personally like to see you have a fuel pressure gauge in the dash, since if your fuel pressure drops while you are running it hard, there is a good chance you will do some serious damage to the engine from leaning it out.

You need to keep pressure under 10 lbs at idle so you won't be forcing gas past the needle and seat, but I would think no less than 7 lbs of pressure.
