Engine Mechanical / Electrical / rebuilding carb...
« on: February 23, 2011, 08:42:38 PM »
got it somewhat disassembled, i REALLY want to clean up the butterflies inside, also the secondaries are a little hard to open and stay closed.  do i just unscrew the 2 screws holding each one in and then the rod pulls out?

also can i use these 2 gaskets?  they're almost identical with the exception of the little lump at the top opening and then the center section.

any tips are GREATLY appreciated.

*I* am not a fan of the intake plate mounts for lifting the engine.  the intake was NEVER designed to be a structural part of the engine, sure its thick and u could prolly drive a car over it, but about 600 pounds hanging off of it?  no thanks.

chain over the top with a bolt in the front and the back into the heads.

Resin is not a problem for the upholsters, just dont get crazy with the glass.

haha how'd it work where the seat cushions and how tight it is?  it looks like when you'd put some foam backed vinyl that it would rub...

looking for a guard to be made or maybe someone has a link to one online i can buy that goes over the crank pulley and off to the side where the alternator is, just to keep towels and peoples toes out of the pulley.

Couple of ideas for ya....both of these are in my tahiti....dont mind the dirtyness

The first picture are cupholders that i drilled into my subfloor...have only seen this in one other boat and thats where i got the idea....looks clean works good and easy access

This is my little engine cover....made a great speaker mount...seen lots of boats with cup holders installed in there...

btw what kind of tahiti is that?  it looks a lot more narrow than mine.  i have at least a foot and a half between the seats.  it looks like you have about 6"

he changed from a tube going from the valve cover to the header, to a tube to a catch can, then is going to fun a water line to the tip of the header... so it LOOKS like he's running water from far.

is there ANY chance that water will go backwards out of the header and down to the exhaust valves?

never thought about putting a cupholder in the floor... it would make it easy to clean under there.  but after all that hard work i dunno about drilling a huge hole into it.  hmmm.  i do need somewhere to put my beer though.   :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

are you wanting to make a bench back there or? a little cover over the front of the engine?

little cover.  but think i might want to angle it or something so i can get like 2 cupholders and maybe 2 6 1/2" shallow speakers back there.

just for a tip, something i did was i cut the sides down a 1/2" lower then the gunnels of the boat to allow for upholstry....it made the seats flush after the upholstry was installed...just an idea for you

thanks for the tip!  gonna do the same.

they're a little tall...  (gonna trim em down now that ive traced the hull line down the sides of em.

and its pretty much the most space i can get out of this thing...  any more and people are gonna be sitting inside of the intake manifold.

now onto the next problem.  holly carb rebuild.  my secondaries keep getting stuck.  the other day starting it at the launch ramp and being stuck @ 2k rpms sucked.  especially in reverse when it shot water EVERYWHERE.

The No Wake Zone / Re: How to get rid of nuisance neighbors
« on: February 20, 2011, 07:50:53 PM »
ive had the same problem.  dont even bother talking to em.  they obviously dont care about the neighborhood.  look up your local "non emergency" police number and just keep calling them, over and over.  call on the parking lot in front of their house, check the cars registration, call em up for that, call em up for the noise, etc.  just keep at it.  eventually they'll get the message, YOU'RE NOT WANTED.  after about 20 calls or so my police department had a talk with the landlord and she was going to face legal problems with public distrubances in the neighborhood.  she eventually gave them the boot.

how is it today? is it still not keeping you logged in?

had to log in today. prolly cuz you changed a cookie setting or something.  i went ahead and deleted all my "socaljetboat.com" cookies...

in firefox go to tools, options, privacy tab:

click the remove cookies link

then scroll to socaljetboats.com, select it and click Remove Cookies.  Then close firefox, open it back up, go to socaljetboats.com and log in again.  That SHOULD help with whatever login issues you're having.

I've been fine so far.

whaaat? the site asks you to do that?  :screwy: this is new to me.

what kind of phone are you using? blackberry, android, iphone or something else?

As far as this issue having to constantly relogin....i thought i had it fixed yesterday, but apparently not. I will continue to look into it.

...and the F5 solution was for the other problem with getting the white page/black text saying theres a server error and to contact the admin. ....BUT if its working for the login information, go for it.

i will have a solution here soon.

tmobile, android G2. it only happens from the phone.

Is your dad grinning?

When I first finished my boat I was 20 years old.  My dad helped me launch it the first time.  While he went to park the truck adn trailer, I took it in the cove and really cut loose.  I was turning and jumping my wake and hauling A**.  Well, I spun out and the distributor got wet.  I kept it running and hit the bilge pump.  There was so much water in the boat that the transome was below sea level, in fact my feet got wet and I was sitting in the front of the boat.  If the engine had died, the boat would of sunk.  So as I wait for the bildge pump to do its thing, I see my dad on shore with his hands on his hips.  When I was able to dock, he cussed me up and down that I had this boat in the water for five minutes and it damn near sunk before he could get a ride.

Good memories of a bad situation.

You will look back at this incident and will remember that your dad was there to help you out when you needed him.

yeah he's grinning.  he's a marine surveyor so its nice to know that he's secretly making sure everything is SAFE before i go out.

The No Wake Zone / Re: Anyone have a MSD wire crimper?
« on: February 15, 2011, 07:32:35 PM »
I have the little block that my msd wires came with. You insert a wire, take a razorblade abd twist. It cuts off the insulation. Then stick a connector on it and tap with a hammer and it bends the ends in....  worked for my wires... ill post a pic of it when I get home.
