Engine Mechanical / Electrical / Best reliability mods to do?
« on: January 19, 2013, 07:25:17 AM »
My favorite fluid is absolutely Absolute.

Mixed with a quality tomato fluid as the base for the thickening agent and with additives such as Worcester and a touch of tabasco (stirred with a crisp celery stick) this particular fluid will lubricate as well as any fluid you can buy! I also add medium sized green olives to this as a stabilizing medium.

From your August pic, I can see why you live there.

While the southern climate is nice, there is alot of baggage with it, traffic, smog, people.

I bitch about the weather , but  the 'baggage' you mentioned Dave are some of the reasons I moved here.... I was burnt on the traffic and the 'multitudes' .   I miss my friends, the beach and the river....., but the trade offs for me made it worthwhile.

Couple years ago I found a nice 2006 Chevy 1500 extended cab....   4wd (NO  push button style...on the floor shift..). Rubber floor mats.... No power windows/seats/mirrors/ door locks......etc.

No 100.00 key fob either.  Although I do have to remember where I park and sometime do a bit of wandering in the local walmart parking lot.  ;0)

HD tow pkg/tyranny & oil cooler...etc.

 And I love it.

No carpet to worry about getting wet.... No drivers side power window to fix ( Every vehicle I've ever owned, new or used the driver side power window has crapped out).

Thx Ray,

The only thing salvageable are donor parts ..... The hull is shot.  The block is toast as well.  There are a set of Hardin marine logs for a 455....... Possibly the gauges...... Not sure about fuel tanks yet.....helm....etc. BIL not interested in it,
Trailer:
It's a 2 axel Trl front hubs are burnt and frozen.  He is going to check to see how much to RR the running gear on it,( depending on the overall road worthiness of it) either fix it and sell it or maybe convert it to a utility Trl for himself......or,  keep everything that may  be useful and scrap the rest.

So far as the pump, he said the impeller spins freely and old owner said it worked fine b4 the motor got smoked.

I figured to pull it and maybe sell it cheap or possibly donate it to someone looking for a JC.  If not, it's aluminum and in Oregon they like to recycle so he may get a few bucks for it.

Like you observed, I only bought it for the diverter basically.  It will be nice to have on my boat for this summer!

Follow up: got the boat to my brother in laws house. Finally. ....there was a delay as seller first could not locate the titles for boat and trailer .but they were found and it is all clear!!!
...first he is going to remove the Place diverter and ship it to me..... Then pull the pump itself and I'll decide to either ship it to a friend in SoCal or here to my place in Ole Miss

Total : $150.00 for the boat and free for the tow to his house on my nieces husbands backhoe Trl.

theres a ton of good documents here on CP Performance's website: http://www.cpperformance.com/t-installation_instructions.aspx

They are under the section Berkeley Jet Drives & More

It's not really hard, once you start digging into it, you will get a hang of how it pieces together. It might even help taking pictures along the way so you know how to put it back together.

Brad,

good stuff.....thanks !!!

Thing is I rent, so no property tax. Landlord don't care what I do in the backyard 8) I started with a 4' x 4' plot, went to 4' x 13' the next year and this year I am at a L shape about 14' x 6'. Love the fricking corn, is why I keep expanding, and of course all the other goodies I have been planting :screwy:

LOL.  I love corn too....that's nice the owner is  cool with it.
It's also become a  great way to relax.... Never thought that .
What kind of corn do u plant?

For what he pays in property taxes he could probably pay someone in MS to grow them for him and cook 'em up too.

Lolololol......   No kidding...... I've got just shy of 2 acres and paid under three hundred bucks in property taxes last year.....

But then again it's location location location ......
