no, thats just some shitty sun faded resin they used to cap it...you can see where it was capped and the resin (no glass) is cracking all the way through.

that boat has a ton of potential. i was sad to let it go. even though i didnt loose money on it, i had a very percise plan for it...but never got to do it....but the reality of it all, a project boat like that will cost 10g's easy when all is said and done.....and turn key boats...NICE boats...are goin for 4g's all day on craigslist.....thus why i ended up with the southwind.

so now heres the kicker...i got FOUR (4) calls for this damn thing NOT MORE then 20 minutes after oc2vegas left!!

its just the way shit goes......  ::)

i havent lost money on it.....i spent $700 on it (yeah, way too much for the times)...but i got $350 for that jacuzzi place diverter...and i still have the jacuzzi pump..and a nicson floor mount foot pedal.....and a bunch of other useless hardware i pulled out of it. figure if i can get $200 or so for the jacuzzi pump....im close enough to call it even in my book

those 4 calls were all for the trailer only....they were going to dispose of the hull.....which i would hate to happen. its fuggin ugly as sin, but is still solid as an ox and has a ton of potential to live another 30+ years.

but its yours now, do as you please....restore it...junk it...make a flower garden out of it....what ever you do, just have fun doin it.

Lol, nope, just spent about 10 or 20 minutes out there drinking a beer and processing what I think it could be. It's gonna get built. Just trying to wrap my lil brain around it right now.

And I was kidding about the Fugly part, I see the potential in it. Very desireable hull.

Lol thanx Glenn. Just one of my thoughts. This boat has a LOT of open space for motor as the cockpit area is so far forward. Different than anything I've ever looked at, and NOT a cruiser hull, very shallow V (Less than the moo or the Saguaro). Almost flatbottom like.

But you guys know that, and there's several of them on here I know.

this hull is VERY identical to the eliminator sprint (like propless's boat...snoc has one too)....i wouldnt doubt they are splashed relatives.

i never got any history on the hallett baron sprint hull...dont know if they were worth a damn in a straight line or in a turn....if they were even competitive....or even ever used for a racing application. i know busby said he took proppy's elim up to 125 in a blown alchy deal.....but was also told he was on the vurge of killing himself doing it lol.

my plan was to set it up as a single center stear application....convert to berk setup....and put a cav setup on those static tabs on the back....i went as far as to purchase all of the cav hardware (actually 2 sets from 2 different boats (v and flat bottom))...all the internal rigging, etc.... but i have different plans for that hardware now  >:D

That it does, lol. There's another thread saved!

I'm well into a twelve pack of Corona now, and the thing is growing on it's own in my lil brain. My first thoughts were on the ride home, lets' do this on the cheap. I mean, the boat was free, so let's see how many free and dirt cheap parts we can use to put it together. Then paint it to be the SoCalJetBoats flagship (Which I can get done free).

After looking closely at the hull, no way can I do this in good concience. The thing was made to run, obviously. And run it will. I mighta went a lil nuts on the Moo, but what's in my mind right now borders on insane, lol

Ray

It's goin Berk for sure, researching Tom's old posts right now for how he went about that. I'm also thinking setback.

All this is just thinking out loud, mind you. Don't know much about Cav's though.  Looks like a runner either way.
