Absolutely no offense on the yellow, I like it, is the insert color silver flake or just white/grey? The pump is all aluminum with exeption of the shaft and grate, unless of course you luck out and have a stainless impeller, the entire pump only weighs about 50 pounds..

I guess this means you have a name for the boat already? The Happy Bannana

If you have parts powdercoated, make sure they do the marine finish first....This is supposed to stop the corrosion in it's tracks.

LOL actually, the name I have picked out, and lord knows why I find this funny, check U-Tube and Search "Peanut Butter Jelly Time". That is the boats name and purpose. That is the funniest thing I'ver seen on U-Tube in awhile. So, across it's transom top, I've already commissioned the girl to arbrush that on, lol

I want to thank you all, personally, for your input. You have no idea, or maybe some of you do, what it means. I plan on having this boat in the water this summer, and god willing, I'm not sure I even beleive in god anymore, but anyway, the kids will be skiing by july.

I have learned more in a couple of hours here than I could in several weeks in a library. For that I thank you. I am, more than likely, goping to ask more and more seemingly dumb questions as this thing progresses. One of which comes to mind immediately, what cam/intake combo works great on a 460 Ford???.

Not a Ford guy, but there are many here, Just FWIW, the only stupid question is one that is never asked..

Thinking 700-750 CFM carb, modified dual plane (like the performer RPM) or open (like the Wiend Team G or Stealth) with a 1" spacer, and I have had good luck with Comps stuff on the BBC, their Extreme Marine line is good for the dough, but if you can swing the scratch, go hydraulic roller...Just shoot for 4800-5000 RPM on the recommended parts and all will be good.

What normally decides what cam and intake is the type of exhaust (headers vs. logs).

Looking forward to seing this thing get a new life!

Wanted to, well had to really, revisit this make sure I thanked evryebody for their input and support.

Yeah, my personal life is tough. Something I didn't want to bring into this, but I did. But the outpouring of support from everyone here AND at JBP, amazing. You guys were right, Tom is the best.

OK, thanks for everything guys, now gonna go broke with the parts I'm buying and have already bought. Now things are taking a turn for the worse. Seems a buddy of mine lined me up with a 550hp 460. That's before I bolt on the tunnel Ram and stuff I already bought for this beast. Sounds like wet socks material and just what I need to turn this thing into the "Yellow Submarine"........... Now that I type that, the wife was a beatlemaniac.......Hmmmmm....... Anyway, this thing only has what I would call traditional motor mounts, coming off the mount pads to the stringers held in place by 2 bolts per side and the bell housing bolted to the jet. I'll post pics tomorrow. This concerns me. WTF am I in for? Have the jet out ready to ship to Tom for a checkup/rebuild, whatever it needs, but am I putting too much motor in this thing?

Btw, is it ok to run an aluminum crank hub on an internally balanced 460? or do I need to use a dampner or fluid dampner? Also, no flywheel, ok to use a generic automatic flexplate or one of those SFI flexplates?

I would recommend an SFI rated flexplate (heavier) or an aluminum flywheel, as far as the Harmonic balancer, if you are planning on a lot of run time, I would run an SFI rated dampener (Rattler, Fluidamper etc...), just my .02c, harmonics is a killer IMO...

If you have the means, go all the way for endurance.

I ran a Summit brand damper on mine .
SFI approved to 10k , removable counter weight .
Pretty good piece , especially for the price .

Thanks, I was leaning towards the fluid dampner anyway, but a friend I used to drag race against has this hub from a 429 he was willing to donate. you know as well as I do that donated parts are priceless. But in thinking about it, the flywheel came into my lil brain. .......hmmmm got a starter, wtf is it gonna engage into?............ these little things can get you. How embarassing would that be not to be able to start the silly thing once you got it to the lake? I think the hand crank from my dad's Farmall might be a handy addition to the fire extinguisher...............

You're right about the Summit pricing on Summit branding. Funny thing you brought that up. Summit Racing was a Mom and Pop thing when I was growing up about 40 miles west from where I grew up In Youngstown, Ohio. We used to make the drive all the time for our weekend projects when I was in High school. What's changed is, since they started advertising in every Hot Rod and Car Craft magazine in the 80's, they're in a position to have parts made for them by the same companies they represent. In other words, melling will sell them an oil pump or Milodon will sell them an oil pan for a HUGE discount becuase they don't have to stand behind it, for one, and they can mass produce anything. Summit Has to assume the warranty, and the mfr is out of it. Same part, but where you used to buy a Holley Fuel pump, and it was replaced if failed, no questions asked, the same pump made by holley, under the Summit name, well different story.
