1978 Eliminator Bubbledeck

I'm trying to get all my ducks in a row so I can have the boat ready ASAP when I get home from tour in a couple weeks. I figure now is the time to start a project thread because I have a ton of questions.

The first thing I need to deal with is the wiring. It's a mess at the terminal block and a couple gauges aren't reading correctly so I'd prefer to rewire it all rather try to save the thirty-six year old wiring.

So, here's the question..Do I buy a new terminal block and make a new harness myself or do I just purchase the entire harness from CPP?

I'm capable of doing a clean wiring job myself, but I don't know where to find all the colored wires, etc locally. Do you guys have any recommendations for somewhere local to find all that stuff?

Just take it to Dana marine, I'm sure he could get it sorted out in a week or so..........

Just order the harness. Yah your probably gonna spend a few more bucks but it's a done deal, not gonna have to search for everything and piece it together, just open the box and put it in.

So, the boat didn't come with a fuel/water separator and it has an electronic fuel tank selector. I don't know if it even works and would prefer to run a manual valve anyway. I'm also going to add a fuel/water separator. What's a good way to mount the separator and manual valve without drilling into the transom? I was thinking of running a piece of aluminum angle across the transom that bolts in with the transom adapter bolts. That way everything can mount to that.

The aluminum seems like a good idea, IMO... I mounted mine to transom but utilized two existing holes. Also put the ball valves on it to work as tank selector. Borrowed that idea from ka0tyk's thread.

On my kona that's how I mounted mine on the kona, I have some left over angle aluminum and a fuel water separator with a spin off filter if you need it.

Then why would you need a fuel/water seperator? I have one currently but am redoing my whole fuel system and I'm not planning on connecting the seperator... Is it really needed?

It isn't much to look at now, but I made a mount for the fuel water separator without drilling any new holes. I still need fittings and ball valves to plumb it. The new engine harness is hooked up and the gauges are in. My old headers were rusted to shit so the only logical option..new Twisties! I have a rebuilt pump from GS Marine to install today. I found out the nice thru-hull cable seals are actually electrical parts so I tracked down the right size to seal the PD cable. They were $5, btw. I don't want to drill into the hull so I plan on running the cable through the transom adapter. I'm thinking to the left of the B?? (Since the pic is upside down it would be to the right) Any opinions?

That is how mine was originally routed, to the left of the “B”. Actually, part of the “B” was ground flush to make room for the cable clamp. I believe that there is enough room to drill and tap the transom adaptor for your seals without breaking into the “B” too much.

I really like the look of this under slung reverse bucket bracket. My setback will include similar TA plates and something like this will be integrated into the plates themselves so no additional holes will be in the fiberglass. Pictured is an E pump (different from our setups), but you get the idea.

It was a struggle to get those old header bolts out, but after some patience I finally got them all..

Sooooo...I messed up and bought too long of a fitting. My reasoning is that the short section of hose would absorb vibration from the motor. The only way it'll work is if I run a 45* fitting off the motor to the T. Will the T hanging off the 45* fitting be a problem?
