So I was just looking through some old pictures and then realized I never started a build thread. I'm not and don't plan on doing a full tear down like most of you guys are. This is a family boat on a budget. Haha

Purchased the boat in August 2011 from a guy in Havasu, while I was on vacation.

Returned the next weekend to pick it up.

Did some miscellaneous cleaning and repairs over the winter of 2011 and summer of 2012.
New tires, new battery, fresh clean up and waxing, and some tuning.

2012 summer I decided a freshen up was needed, so I started collecting parts.
New carpet

460 refresh

Some summer 2013 pictures

And finally a diverter

Need to get a cable still. And fix the steering cable leak then it will be good for a 2014 summer!

On the todo list is interior and a trailer make over. Everything works it's just starting to wear and look old.

Sometimes just keeping up with the wear and tear on these old things is the bigger battle.

Thank you, she isn't perfect by any means. She has her bumps and bruises but she gets my family onto the water with minor issues every trip. And the issues always make for good stories in the years to come! Haha

So small update... Stopped by Place to get the cable and what not, well Tim sold me on replacing the forward/reverse cable also. For the price couldn't pass it up! Plus same day service.

Big shout out to Tim and all the guys at Place Diverter and Controls!

Ha that's what my mom and dad said too, it's all gone. About a quarter of it was missing, and the rest was pretty yellow. Hahaha

So does anyone have a way to do some milling?

My logs are warped and is leaking from cylinder #1. I'm told the best way to fix this is remove them, have them milled and reinstalled them with a nice thick copper gasket.
Also does anyone have a trick to tightening/ keep the bolts tight? I understand it gets hot and should be retightened after first use. But mine keep coming real loose, I think that's why it warped.

Most guys dont use exhaust gaskets. Ive used the copper silicone instead of gaskets and never had issues. I think this should help. Msybe even blue lock tight on the bolts

No major updates, but the interior is cleaner than we purchased it now...
It only took about 30 magic erasers and 2 days. Needless to say it worked wonders but I have very little skin and fingernails left.

How many would recommend using a vinyl sealer? If so which one?

That would be great. I was planning on going out this weekend, but I don't think we are going to. Next for sure trip is late June, and that ones a must.

get a set of bolts and safety wire em. when one tries to loosen, it'll pull on the other and keep it tight.

Thanks, it was lot of bang for the buck. However I did found some very minor cracks and rotted wood while I was cleaning. I really hope it holds up for another two summers.

I was an airframer in the navy..now I keep a set of safety wire pliers in my tool chest

Okay so I purchased a set of step-n-go trim tabs... Now I am in need of installing direction. I have searched online but nothing was very defined. There was just so many different ways that people where doing it. And I'd really rather not trial and error this... Haha
So I'm looking for a set it and forget it set up. I added the diverter and I'm still porpoising at speed and in chop, not sure if it's because I haven't 100% figured out the diverter or the boat. So all help or advised would great.
Does the hull make a difference?
Where do I need to measure from?
What angle should I set them at?
Should I just mount them right up the the hull, or should I put some kind of gasket or something?

So it's about time I get started on my list of winter projects... Couple of questions first.

I'm in north or age county, where is a good place to get pump work done? I would like to be able to leave it in the boat and drop the boat off. I'm thinking freshen up and add a loader, possibly a stuffer... Any thoughts? Any have a good mini day set up?

Also I am in need of a machine shop to straighten out the logs, they have bent outwards due to not being tighten down properly after installed.

Might also being needing some assistants with resealing the fuel fills, haven't looked into this just know they are leaking.

Lastly how does trailer good work? I know there was someone on here, but can't find them. I need a minor overall completed.
