So i bought this boat off of my Uncle because I love this boat and practically grew up on it, the only problem is my uncle half assed fixing it and he really DIDN'T TAKE CARE OF IT.

So im planning on getting it looking good  before the end of this yea.

So it's a 19' 79 Cole with a BBC AND Berkeley Pump

PROBLEMS
- the hulls needs some work, the dash is cracked and the deck has a shit load of ( it looks like little 1'' chips or cracks) o and a paint job
-it doesnt have a splt bowl and place diverter and i think the pump need to be rebuilt
- stringers need to be replaced
- needs new upholstry
- motor needs work
- trailer needs new bunks, paint and wiring

I'm not sure where to start or what exactly what to do.

Looks  like a pretty boat! Good luck with the rebuild. Yeah, get some pics up of what ya got to work with. Someone'll be able to help. I'm in the middle of diggin fiberglass out of orificies I didn't know existed......
But looks like you're on the right track by gutting it and just goin in balls deep!

From the engine, looks like a good foundation, although that tunnel ram I don't think I've seen before. 

I wouldn't worry about the whole split bowl thing. Seen PLENTY of non split bowls run very hard and toss out a monster roost.  Just need a Place Diverter is all.

Yeah That's a long list, My list was very similar just 2 months ago and now it's much shorter. Read up on the information in these forums, Watch a lot of U-Tube video's on do it yourself boat projects, Ask questions

 here and just keep at it and later then you think after spending more then you thought it will still need more work and still not be done..   But keep at it like your  And eventually you

The stringers don't look to be a problem.  You might want to look into installing a rail kit for mounting the engine.

The crack can be repaired.  There are a couple threads here with good pics of dash repairs.

The upholstery isn't too expensive if the wood is saveable.

So ive been doing a lil reseach to get the pump rebuilt with all the bells and whistles, so to have the pump gone through  by

jet boat performance in atascadero (split bowl ,bronze prop, place diverter, droop snoot)would cost me about $2519

and thats for me to pull the pump, does this sound like a reasonable price

Unless you're going to be putting some serious HP into this thing you don't need a bronze impeller.

What do you consider "Serous HP", I'm under the belief that bronze/SS are needed for 450 HP +. Am I correct?..     Roy

Aluminum = up to 550-600HP without problems
Bronze = up to 800-900HP without problems
Stainless = anything over 800HP

I'm sure people have run higher HP on the aluminum/bronze, but why take a chance?


450hp is not much over a mild build for a jet.

Your Numbers are slightly higher then I was being lead to believe but we are real close, So close I'm sticking to my plan to not touch my pump/alum impeller till the 500ish HP engine is in and bugs worked out, Then diverter/bronze impeller and only then add the NOS that will give me bursts a little over 600 HP..   Thanks for the info makes me confident in my plan...    Roy.
