These may be around 2" shorter that the covers on it now, but I like the look (less 80's looking) and they make the intake look bigger

Finished plumbing the fuel system (pump to reg), and while reconnecting the water lines found the fitting from the "T" to the t-stat housing corroded, so broke out some more 1/2" 304. The handwriting is on the wall..... probably wind up replacing all the braided stainless with hardline. Ditched the 80's valve covers and pulled a set of MT's off the shelf too.

Here's the beauties that were on it. Plenty of room for roller rockers, girdles, etc. Similar to the old B&M's from the 80's without the logo. Not much looks-wise.....

Can't say I was upset when I pulled the valve covers and found stock rockers, as I figured it was the apparent age of the engine running older components. I figured it'd be a good idea to pull the intake and lube the cam before spinning it, so off came the manifold. I was pleasantly surprised to find what was underneath though. For the life of me I can't figure out WHY they would run a roller cam, but stock rockers.

Good news is I can get the intake re-polished as well as not worry about the cam when it lights off.

Waiting on parts so I figured I'd re-polish the intake by hand rather than send it out. Forgot what a PIA it is! Oh, and those red pieces on the throttle linkage are the next to go.....

What kind of throttle linkage are you using? I have the same intake with some old school custom home made garbage. Lol

I hate the anal retentive side of me. The shine wasn't what I thought it should be, so I tore it all apart last nice and buffed it all out on the wheel...... for 2 hours. Tapped all the holes and found one that someone drilled and tapped..... into the plenum, and didn't plug! plenum gaskets are no longer available, so silicone it is!

I like carb linkage setup for the carbs sideways like that. I took mine apart to get the intake powdercoated. Now i wish i would of taken pics because it is confusing. Lol

I used Mothers by hand, then green rouge on the buffing wheel.

For those that have polished bowls, nozzles, brackets, etc..... more power to you. What's odd about this (over and above the previous posts) is the bowl, droop, nozzle, reverse bucket and brackets were polished with everything but the bowl anodized. Problem is, the anodizing has gotten cloudy, so if I were a real glutton for punishment I would strip and re-polish them, and have that joy every time I pull it out of the water.

What I think I'm going to do is prep them and shoot them with white appliance epoxy giving them a stock look. I've great luck with it on the pumps in my other boats and not having more to polish regularly doesn't hurt my feelings.

Not a whole lot "new", but finishing up what I started. Fuel system fab is done, throttle linkage almost finished (just waiting on a few stainless rod ends), and custom fit the wire set. After staring down the intake ports, it looks like this engine has not been started since rebuilt. There's absolutely NO carbon on the backside of the intake valves but without a bore scope I can't see the chambers. Don't know why 2 of the shots show the gel as a lovely aqua color

Next is pull the tanks and clean them out......

Not a real big deal, but the shaft assy was bugging the crap out of me. For some reason, a PO thought it would be a cool idea to paint it RED (like they did parts of the throttle linkage)

. There's NO RED on this boat other than the crappy spray bomb job on these two items. The linkage was fixed last week, so this weeks task was bead blast, prep (with ospho) and shoot the assy with black appliance epoxy. I love painting small parts with this stuff..... high gloss, hard as a rock and holds up in a marine environment far better than other paints.
Looking forward to getting some REAL work done on it this weekend.... after putting up Xmas lights, the tree, etc.

The more I look at the interior, the more it's bugging me too. It needs new wood on the passenger seat and new vinyl all around, so I'm in a quandary.
Replace the interior with the old style seating so it's "new" again, or upgrade with 2 benches to update it?
