How did it cost rod a motor? The motor was built right. From what I heard. It was Rod that ran old gas that blew the motor up
You forgot the Rod factor!

Do you mean the Sanford factor

? Yea you have a point there, but can you explain how "bad gas" only affects one cylinder
Dont forget this,
(quote Rod from the Mach 1 thread) I had a mechanic briefly look at the engine in the Mach 1 this morning (he's here to fix the family boat's water pump and eratic running condition). He said it looked to him like there was a bad vacuum leak on that cylinder. He asked if the heads were surfaced (yes), asked if the block was surfaced (yes), asked how it idled (didn't idle very well at all), asked if it had any popping out the exhaust (yes), I then showed him the cylinder head and he looked at the gaskets and said that he could tell the gasket wasn't sealing and then he showed me how he could tell.
(unquote)
Bad gas my a** .

, that motor was in big trouble before it ever saw water, but he ran it anyway. Go back and look at that thread , it was running like crap (wouldnt idle, popping, etc, etc) and he ran anyway just to get it on the water and try to get it faster than 49 mph

. Lesson to be learned = take your time and build it right, than if something is wrong fix it before you go to the lake.
Sorry for the thread jack 2sav, now get back to work !!
