This one only took about 6 hours to go get. Project High Life: 1973 Miller 19' full stringer jet drive. Jacuzzi WJ, no engine, tandem trailer, bad tires, solid wood, this one is hitting the water again my friends!     Pictures are worth a thousand words so here's a few...

About the title, I realize that no one on here drinks beer see, and this is a Miller boat, well there's another company called Miller and they make beer, and part of a slogan of theirs is High LIfe. High Life is actually a double edged sword in this case, not only is this a Miller boat, but with me having 4 boats and 6 trailers in my backyard I'd have to be high to some extent to take on another projetc now wouldn't I?   

Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go break in a cam. I have to admit, I'm nervous as all hell!

Today I pressure washed the engine while it was still in the Biesemeyer, modified my P.O.S. cherry picker, and then I removed the engine. I washed the bildge and transom with a scrub brush. The paint is coming off of the bildge and the resin coat on the transom is tired. Tomorrow morning I'm going to re-resin the transom, deliver the Rogers engine to the mechanic, comback home and paint the transom and bildge. If everything goes according to plan (does it ever?) Sunday I'll be installing the engine. It's a 455 Olds and rumor has it that a 302 Ford, I think, was in it. "Piece Of Cake", I said. You can qoute me on that.   

I've re-glassed the battery mount in and re-resined the transom. I found a piece of "stringer" that joins the two stringers together that someone had removed some of the fiberglass from, the wood is in great condition. I laid some mat over that and resined the hell out of it. Next is for me to buy some paint and paint my bildge and transom. Damn resin doesn't dry any faster no matter how hard you hard-ball    it.

What a beutifull day, the engine is in and I am still hammered.

Things to do.

1. Modify my transom support as the crank pulley is too close to change the fan belt.
  I'm confused .

2. I found a soft spot in the floor, repair floor.
 Worry about that later ! My Saguaro has some too !

3. Mount the battery mount, water fuel seperator, fuel valve.
4. Hook-up the water to the engine.
5. I need to wire it.
 How much wiring really needs to be done .

6. Gas tanks need to be installed.
7. Exhaust outlets need to be repaired (missing flapper doors) and reinstalled.
8. Exhaust outlets are 3 1/2" and the snails outlets are 2 3/4".
 3 1/2 hose will fit around the entire snail . Mines like that .

9. The engine's aluminum needs to be cleaned and the engine needs a little bit of touch-up paint.
 Save it for later !

10. Install logs, snails, valve covers.
11. Check/replace cables.
 Debatable .

12. Modify and strengthen the seats (longer engine than what it had in it before).
 You should have that done in a jiffy ( yes I said jiffy )

13. Shorten the rear seat cushions (about 3 inches).
 Later dude .

14. Make gas tank covers.
 Not gonna stop you from running or floatin

15. Carpet.
 Debatable

16. Install rub rail.
 Debatable.

17. Paint touchups.
 You are not going to have the ugliest boat there , guaranteed !

18. Jacuzzi WJ transom cover plugs (different than Bekeley's plugs).
19. Paint the trailer.
 Debatable.

20. Pinstripe boat and trailer.
Are you kidding .

That's the plan. In 11 days I'm going to the river, I got a feeling the Miller isn't going. It has to be done for the AVI trip, July 13th, which is in 19 days.

If anyone wants to lend a hand, I'll pay for your drink(s) and your gas, I'll even feed you while your here. I got a friend helping me out with some of it... Any takers?   

Cut the fukin list in half . Get the essentials done first and everything else is secondary.
