Olds 482 stroker build
« on: April 23, 2015, 01:34:11 PM »
Ok guys decided to go stroker on my olds. I know some may disagree with even attempting this on an olds because of all the issues they have but please no smart remarks. This will be for you olds guys. Im going to continue to update the process as its built along the way. Right now I have all parts except the rod bearings so for so now the crank is installed torqued. Went with ARP studs along with cross plates for the 2,3,4 caps. Main bearing clearances are .003 thousands and end play is .007 thousands. When the rod bearings get here I will update the process of installing those and the Pistons.

Finally!!! Someone who has a grasp of what's needed to build an Olds!

And most importantly, is ready to step up to the plate and use/buy correct parts.

Good for you buddy, I look forward to hearing your success story with an Olds, you will do great. 👍

I'd like to know how many RPM do you expect to turn?   Also curious if you looked into any other options for heads besides the Ebrocks.  I never could see much difference in design between stock and what Ebrock produced.

Kevin didn't you just build this motor and have it go out on you? Did you figure out what happened the last time? Don't want to see it happen again. Looks like you are heading in the right direction.

Yea your correct and after a lot of research it was narrowed down to bearing clearances were all off. This time it's all gonna be good.

I'm estimating between 5-5500 rpm. Was looking at other heads as well but I decided to just stick with the edelbrocksat least for now. You never know that could change at any time though 😁

Yea no kidding and with all that I researched it should have no issues except when running into some last minute calculations waiting on the rod bearings we discovered that the wrong Pistons were sent to me leaving with .250 thousands to low. Now I have to send them back and get the right ones sent to me. 😖😤😡
