Hey guys, I've been studying up and gathering parts for this '75 super cyclone. It's my first jet and I got a late start but hope she floats this summer.
First challenge of many: A previous owner rigged a BBF w/ 3 pt. mount and logs/snails. As you can see in the photo, the snails interfered with the hull cap in front of the transom. I'd like to put them back that way to get me by, any reason I can't cut the rest of that out between their hack job? Just trying to clean things up before paint. Any input is appreciated.

Was really trying to keep things original but I think I can make it turn out clean. I will be reinforcing that rear deck from behind if I cut it. That cutout on the rear left will get patched along with the added gauge hole on the far right of the dash.

I've had good luck with a long block and 100 grit sanding belt.
3 X 24 belt cut in half and attached to a block of wood.
