I do not have a Rex one $$. I got a strainer from McMaster and it seems to work pretty good. I will get a nice stainless one someday.

I'll bet there is a cheaper solution, as pictured above, that will work just as well.

A friend of mine is rebuilding a BBC blower engine and is adding a sea strainer so sand doesn't get into the intercooler. He hasn't tried it out yet.

I got the strainer at McMaster. It was cheap, like 25 bucks I think. The line going to the engine is a -12 cause I have the large crossover in the front that takes a 1" NPT. The line from the pressure relief valve is -8 and the feed line (before the valve) to the banderlong is -8 as well.
Last year for the 3 times I had my boat in the water the strainer has worked good.

Your set up is very nice. Its looks like you took your time and did it rite. Aslo you boat is bad a$$. Im gonna go with a hardin marine one Its just like the rex one but has a built in oil cooler and port for the high pressure valve.. I really dont want to do it twice like everything else Ive done on this money pit, lol. Im doing - 10 on everything for the water and not using any kind of water exhuast at all. It will be a bad a$$ set up when its done and ill post pictures when its finished. Then you can call me the one upper, lol just kidding.

pictures!!!!   ;D

It's at JP Marine in Lakeside, CA.. My friend is disabled and has JP do all of his work for him. CP Gull wing, light lay-up (I think 375 lbs), bottom and top flop around just by tapping them with your hand, getting new paint and interior (now). Former river racer drag boat, Berkeley 12JG, Agressor 9 vane, Berkeley droop, race nozzle, ride plate. BBC 468 de-tuned on the dyno many many years ago from 1400 HP down to 1100 HP, getting freshened up now, and adding a intercooler.  >:D  Unfortunately I get scared in the passenger seat pretty easy and doubt I'll ever ride in it.  :D

I saw those plastic strainers on dana marine, I was going to run one but they said that they were for light duty use like washdowns and showers, how has yours worked out for you? does it actually trap any sand or does it go right thru it.

Maddogg20,
If you are referring to the strainer I have in the picture, yes it does trap sand and it is rated at 250psi as well. For the functionality and the price it is fine.

I went and checked my order history on Mcmaster.
Here is the part number and I used the mesh screen for it. Sorry I stand corrected it is good for 150psi.
