Sleekcraft SSV 1979

I just bought this Sleekcraft SSV last month.

I had the engine built and dyno'd at which time it was shrink wrapped and left on the engine stand 12 years ago.
My son and I pulled it out from under the pallet rack a couple of days ago, unwrapped it and it's just like xmas.

I've got a brand new set of Bassetts still in the box with a rebuilt Berkeley pump that I had done about 12 years ago.
Gonna start putting back together once I get it back from Sal with Orange County Boat Works.

This is gonna be so cool when you git her all done! I have a buddy in Utah that has the same model boat with nearly the same paint scheme except it is silver, pinks, and blues over black. Love the old school sparkle

Stock other than a cam 390 Ford so it aint a racer. I enjoyed skiing behind it but how fast it runs or set up I don't really know. I doubt it has seen water in 3-4 years . But he has indoor storage for about 40 cars so it always looks good LOL.

i got the boat back from OC boatworks and pulled it into the shop. I'm gonna start on the pump next.

SleekCraft has always put together the worst color combinations in my opinion, BUT!
This is one off my favorite, original gel coat combos.
It looks amazing, I love blue and silver flake, and I just can't keep my eyes off of it.
Beautiful boat.

Thanks, i was totally jazzed as to how well the finish came out. Not perfect, but pretty close.

I previously owned 2 SST's with the yellow, orange, red, and brown color scheme. I hated the colors and never wanted to pony up enough cash to totally put on new gelcoat so i got rid of em. I feel real lucky to have found this one and to where i could bring the original gelcoat back. I think this color scheme on an SSV has got to be pretty rare.

I'm gonna start on the pump next. I have a rebuilt pump with new shaft and an A impeller and I need to get a droop and diverter. I picked up a split bowl but it's painted red. I'm gonna need to strip it and I'll have it powdercoated. I'm wondering if I should powdercoat it white or strip the external parts less the transom plate and powdercoat it all polished aluminum/chrome? Anybody got any ideas?

I powder coated my last one white.
So durable and easy to clean.

I think I'm gonna go with the white powdercoat because it will give a little more of the original look.

I just bought this off of ebay. I'll rebuild it all and stick on the end of the g bowl i bought on craigslist. Should i stick with the race nozzle or go to a divertor?

Depends on what you are going to do with the boat, but if you want to turn loose of that nozzle and butt bucket, let me know...

I won't trade you a whole Diverter for it, but certain I can come up with something....

I own a machine shop near the corner of Lincoln and Euclid in Anaheim.

As far as what am I gonna do with the boat, I found my dyno sheet, dated 2001. It's hard to believe that the thing has been shrink wrapped and stored for that long. The motor is rated at 543 hp @5500rpm and 573 tq at 4500rpm, so not a race motor but healthy enough to be cool. I'm hoping it will spin an A impeller to ?? 4900 to 5100 ??. Shooting big rooster tails really don't appeal to me, I'ld probably hurt somebody and get myself in trouble for doing something retarded. I also want to build the boat so other people can drive it. What kind of mph do you think this setup is capable of?
