I am not sure which Forum to put this in so here goes!

I have a 19ft. Commander that has a stuck steering cable on a Berkley Jet. The helm works fine and I am sure that with a simple lube the cable could be freed up but my question is what is the best way to try to pull the cable from the housing? What type of lube should be on the cable? If that is not feasible, where can I find a complete cable with housing? I know Morse used to be (and may still be the best) I will be working on the boat in Orange County, Ca so if there are any shops out that way can you let me know and what should I expect to pay?

Secondary question, how tight a radius can these cables withstand and still work?

yup what tom said, oh yeah got mine from him too

I got fwd/rev and Place diverter cables from JBP earlier this year.  Good price & fast service.

All you need to do is get your measurements and give them a call.  They can usually tell you what ends you have for each type of cable.

RE cables  for the record ; Generally .. 16' boats use 14' rack systems  17' & 18" use 15' and 20's and 21's typically take 16' and sometimes 17' . Most Rack cables are misrouted or the person selling the rack is too lazy to explain how to route them the most effective way and folks end up with the wrong length We sell all Steer cable systems for the same price and will happily take time to explain how to route the best way Tom

HI Tom,  How about a lesson on how to correctly route steering cable, on here?  I'm sure everyone would appreciate that.  I know I would.  ~Greg

When you have a a hull that has no steering installed, there's no way to trace the same route.

  Anyway, the thing works like butter now!  thanks for the past shipping and help in choosing the right cable.

I have a question now about the Forward /Reverse set-up not.  It seems like my handle is hitting the dash before the rear flapper is all of the way up!  How far up does the flapper gate have to be aboe the nozzle outlet?  how do you make minor andor larrge adjustments to the  handle/cable assembly?

Ps.  sorry about the typos but I cant see what I am typing into the box here and no one has told me yet how to fix that.  this is the only site I have a problem with this situation.

I ordered the steering cable from Tom and fINLLY got it in yesterday.  What a PITA to get that cable une the engine and over the pump to get that sucker in!  NIGHTMARE!!!!!!!!!!!

?  That is really wierd.  There's a huge text box that I can watch how poorly I spell.  I can't be of any help here but hopefully some body will chime in with the answer
