Yes the engine runs well . I ran it in the 11 or 12 second class . Had to run the nitrous hard to compete in the 11 second class . I'm thinking for trying something different . The inducer with an A impeller . But I'm not sure if the inducer will help on the top end or only on the bottom end ... Thanks
A jet pump needs to be fed water for it to remain properly loaded. During the hit, the boat is not moving at a sufficient velocity for the hull/intake to properly load the impeller. The result is that the impeller can discharge more water than it can draw in. This is sometimes referred to as blowing the pump dry and is a form of pseudo-cavitation.
An inducer will primarily help your launch. It does so by increasing the pressure at the inlet eye of the impeller, reducing cavitation. This loads the impeller earlier and helps the pump pull the engine down earlier. As the velocity of the boat increases, the benefits of an inducer drop off. However, in a drag race application, the speed that an inducer provides at the beginning of the run carries out to the big end of the track resulting in reduced ET.
Adding an inducer will not affect the RPM where your pump loads the engine. That is entirely influenced by the cut of the impeller.
One thing to note, should you be primarily interested in MPH gains, an inducer may reduce top speed. This is a result of inducer pitch, shaft RPM, and boat velocity. Regardless, our experience has been that an inducer always reduces ET.
