I have 2 of those batteries that I bought near 8 years ago. Both were in my chevelle for almost 4 years before I took one and stuck it in my dads boat and now have it in my boat. Great luck so far with em. Keep an eye on it, keep it clean and invest in a good automatic trickle  charger.

I run the kirkland deep cycle marine/rv batteries from Costco.
1st year free replacement, and Costco is great for returns. the batteries  have held up well with no real issues

It is my understanding that in a boat that sees a lot of starting like when skiing or tubing, you don't want deep cycle batteries.  They are better as a seperate supply for a big stereo that has long low pull needs, not occassional high pull demands.  Is this right?  I've always been happy with Interstates.

First time that I've had battery problems was with deep cycle marine batts. 500 cca, not enough for a stock BBC, (no wonder I went thru starters) let alone a high compression one. 850 for cranking battery, deep cycle for the stereo.

Ya I think I might go up to the 27 series instead of the 24 I have now. If I do that will I have to run a different alternator?

I've got the two on a switch I have a system but I never really use it. Don't want to end up with dead battery.

regular car battery for starting and only starting. Deep cycle for stereo and only stereo. use a battery switch to switch between the two. when beached/floating with music use the deep cycle to play your favorite music. when done and ready to leave switch to the starting battery and fire it up and leave it alone till your next party session then switch back. Deep cycles are not designed for starting. And regular starting batteries are not designed to be discharged and recharged often.
