091 trans rebuild
« on: October 26, 2013, 11:58:01 PM »
Made a last minute trip out to Glamis for the weekend. Car ran great all day (see video). However at the sand drags on my 2nd pass, I shifted into 3rd, and boom goes the dynamite. Anyhow I'm looking into recommendations or prices from shops in SoCal.

Thanks.

Check with rancho in anaheim. They do great work and reasonable too. The proce will depend on what you broke. Sounds like either a 3rd gear or ring gear. Without more details its hard to say for sure.

I've been using Benco and he is really reasonably priced and a very skilled trans builder. I just so happen to be at Car Craft in riverside and they had one for $1500 with $500 core exchange close ratio gears.

I'll be pulling the motor and trans this week to see what it look like. 1st and 2nd pull fine. But when it goes into 3rd. It sounds like the clunking of a train going down the tracks. 4th seems fine as well.
