I'll stand behind my getting there early statment . Or get a reservastion and get there whenever you like , thats always nice . I've heard they have some pretty cool camping there too and I've heard it is usually booked all summer . Very popular place to camp and boat . My freind works odd hours and goes during the week and swears by that place .

They call that place "Snake Lake" for a reason.  Don't sleep on the ground unless you are open to "company".

Silverwood is the local lake for us... we use it a lot during the week.

there is a speed limit of 35mph.

when we first got the new (to us) boat, we went and made some high speed passes... the Rangers chased us down and we got the speed limit speech... no ticket though.

I haven't been on a weekend in probably 15+ years... we used to get there at 5am and hope you could get in! I think they only let 125 boats on the lake. If you didn't get in that first 125, you had to wait for someone to leave... one out, one in.

Heres the link for reservations:

http://www.reserveamerica.com/campgroundDetails.do?subTabIndex=0&contractCode=ca&parkCode=silv

BTW, the wind usually starts blowing round 3pm. Sometimes a little, sometimes alot.

I am going on Monday.  Made a reservation and it still said it had 117 left so there shouldn't be many people on the lake.  Not going to really try the high speed thing but I am gonna try to run without my baffles in my headers.
Should be able to let everyone know how it goes on Tuesday.   O0

Well, the lake is awesome.... So long as you go durning the week.  I have been twice since the last post, once on a monday and the other on a tuesday.  I have not been on the weekend but judging by the size of the lake, 125 boats on that lake would be insane!
Ran the boat with no baffles in and didn't get any issues from the Rangers at all. Even pulling it out of the water, when I had to run the engine to get the water out, I thought for sure that I would get a talking to but nobody came up.   I did make a few runs where I was screaming, but nobody paid it any mind.  I didn't even see a ranger on the water both days, and I didn't leave until 4pm.   O0

Yeah, the wind thing is an issue if it kicks up enough.  That canyon that the lake is in acts like a funnel and the wind can get screaming through there.  It was a little windy on the Tuesday that I went out but I figured being out on the water is enough to forget about the wind.

Bad, as in how? When I went it was actually pretty nice.  Fairly clean for the most part and actually not too cold.  Cold at first but you get used to it fast.

Has the season ended so you can get in yet? Or still need reservations. Thinking about going tomorrow - but getting there at 4am ain't gonna cut it....
