The Onstar rep was an IDIOT !! Like I told you, Onstar can only do it IF the vehicle has the factory remote start option, and not all vehicles do. If it had it you would have factory remote that started your vehicle. If you dont care about the security features of an actual alarm. You might check with the parts department at your local Chevy dealership first. I have heard of people adding the factory system. It comes with the brain and remote I believe and just plugs in (from what I was told).
I talked to three different reps getting my assurance that it would work before I gave them the card number.
After I paid and tested and no workey, called same gal and explained what the message said. She ran my vin and clearly told me that same story.. just funny how the same person was guaranteeing all would work shortly before payment.
I may downgrade to the safe & sound package for 149/yr just in case shit happens. Most trips to the river, I'm falling asleep there and back. The woman may drive it sometimes and if she gets in a panic situation, I'd want the blue button to work.
But really, most things offered by onstar are available through a smartphone.. providing internet access.
