So I was at the OC swap meet a couple weeks ago and they have a "vintage" section, well there was a really sweet looking old wagon. So I picked it up thinking I would just wipe it down and clear coat it. Well since then I have had a new idea, custom lifted wagon! Something like such below. I know I'm not the first one on here to want to do this, and I am not a very mechanical person. So I've done a little research on different ways to complete this project. But I would enjoy some input and pictures of ones everyone else has built.
What I'm thinking so far is some old atv rims and tires (not sure on size yet), mounted on some kind of axle with bearings, bend up some lift piping along with an ice chest rack in the rear, cup holders on the sides, May or may not do the suspension (mostly due to cost), possibly widen the wagon tray (my daughter is 7). Over all goal is beach and swap meet cruiser.

I'm more of a low wagon guy myself, that way she can climb in and out by herself. just be careful, I went through a phase and bought every radio flyer steel pan wagon i Gould find on cl . I think I still have about 6 of them in my storage unit after building one for almost everyone in my family. I even built a huge 4 person wagon on bags and used electric wheel chair motors so pulling it was easy. Ended up selling that one at Pomona sometime last year and now I'm working on a deep pan atw radio flyer wagon. Getting a full c Chanel frame, solid front axle and a cantilever bag set up using semi truck cab bags. I have a problem.

theres a guy at the long beach swapmeet that does all carts.  i think hes from wicked carts.  raised, lowered, custom billet hubs, etc...

Sounds expensive, but I'll have to look into that for reference. Thank you

yeah i was looking into making a wagon.  i could weld up the frame no problem... but all the little pieces like the shocks, etc are 12 here, 15 there... heim joints for steering, etc... at some point it might just be cheaper in the long run to buy a cart already made for a few hundred bucks.  the cart wheels alone are like $100 for a set, even on ebay.  let alone a set of tires for them.

That's the plan, purchase and good looking pan and stock hardware, modify it with a lift and some old used atv tires at someone is trying to just get rid of. KISS...

what style of tire were you thinking?  mudder, all-terrain, turf friendly....like whats on lots of ride on mowers or what you usually find on golf carts?
also, style of wheel?  on amazon, you can get complete wheel for golf cart, stock looking for around 31$/ea.  may not be best price, but i didnt hunt for too long tho.

12-15"?  pretty big.  try looking into golf cart rims.  only problem is the hubs are gonna be custom and expensive... not little 3 bolt go-kart wheels.  and they're gonna be heavy.

Yeah I was originally thinking atv wheels, because I know a couple off road shops that just have tons of used ones. But the more I look the more I realize it won't be easy or cheap to get them to connect onto the wagon.

Really anything that looks likes similar to a lifted truck tire, so not go cart slicks. Haha

I have a couple places I know that I can get some old used (but still still hold air) off road tires from. I am really just wanting it to be functionally cheap. I don't want to have to go buy a bunch of stuff to make my idea work. Looks like I will just have to change my idea to make it work.

tons of wheel options around that look like 4x4 truck wheels.  only thing is....they dont bolt up like real wheels do.  example:  wheelbarrow wheels.  its a thru bolt to keep wheel on.  or hand dolly wheels.  some of these have knobbys on them.  harbor freight has some air filled tires with some knobbys on them.  and CHEAP.  so if youre good with that type mount, options are good for you.

here, check this out.  see how the wheels are mounted.  i dont know who owns this....but looks like dolly wheels or harbor freight specials.  shocks look like those off a mountain bike. which would be too stiff, unless youre only after the look.

Those almost look to be wheel barrow tires/wheels. basically a spindle mount
