So work has been stupid stupid slow for me...I mean come on im in the construction trade...Well my old super intendant has been in contact with me and asking what has been going on with me at work...well the people that took over for him take the family, and friends as their main priority for keeping busy "which is understandible"...anyway my old super intendant has kept in touch with me and asked me about my work hours...well 2 weeks ago while i am dealing with all the other chrises in my life he asked me to show up to orientation at a new state of the art power plant in california for orientation...so friday knowing i was going to be off on monday i set it all up...so today i spent all day at orientation, and a phone call to my other company about the fact i was there did not go over so well...should i feel bad about this? they work me like 30 hours one week, then sit me at home the next! As it appears now i half to drive to state line everyday, and do what i do? What is state tax going to be like, or do i even have to deal with that? are you californians mad at me? should my previous company be mad at me for not telling them? or should i be proud of being part of the worlds largest solar power plants in the world?

Do what u gotta do to keep jet boating,some times you just have to worry about yourself

you got to do whatever is best for you. if you can become a state worker that is job security and you wont work very hard. . Plus they usualy have pensions and good 401k plans. i would say go for it. steady income is better than work that comes and goes

Actually I think AZ has higher taxes. So far, the state hasn't given out IOU's to employees in over 17 years and if you sign up with a CA Employees credit union like Golden One, they will honor the IOU's. I think you should go for it. You can't beat the retirement or medical, dental, vision benefits!

i dont think they should take taxes out claim exempt youll pay nevada the tax not cali..hell if you fuel up in nevada youll save even more.calis about to charge another 1.00 a gallon to state tax just to get this dump out of dept...look out here i come nevada..that s weird i work in az,utah and nevada,ship even texas.thats weird they must owe me tax return..

i should have specified a little better...i still work for a sub contractor, but the job is in the state of california!!! the job will some how some way end up in the hands of california, but as far as right now i am there to tie rebar...allegedly between the two companies they should keep me busy, but im pretty sure i burned a bridge...although i shouldnt really care, i am leaving some close friends behind that i have worked with for 7 years now...i have seen the writing on the wall with this company so im hoping i made the right choice! i guess one of the best perks of this job is it's 4 10's so river trips will be alot easier!!! I now have a ton of other projects on my hands as well with my gramps passing on...he left behind a cabinet shop in his back yard...a mechanics bay with some very nice vehicles, and 3 houses to be maintained!

sorry for the late respond most us of do realize that when the contractor is done with you maybe and suppose to give 24hr layoff notice does not usally happen so do they care what you think. go for it and good luck
