If I lay out $200 and get $400 back, that to me is an investment. I really don't give a rats asss what the actual dollar amount is, if someone buys anything with the intent to profit from it - "it" is an investment. Does cash buy arrogence?

The guy that puts 20K into a Duster with a slant 6 is the same guy that would buy an awesome Eliminator jet, dump 25K into it, and barely be able to sell it for 11K.

50 dollar intakes are everywhere if you know where to look. I just sold a perfect intake for a Jacuzzi for $20 a couple of weeks ago. I have an entire pump with the intake I'll sell anyone right now for $100.

I may be wrong on what goes wrong in a Ford 460 when the pushrods are too long, but I am not wrong on the above statements, except on how arrogence is aquired.

A Jucuzzi? I can believe you sold an intake for 20 bucks for one of those. They're worth more as scrap that as a unit. lol

(that was a joke, so don't get your little panties in a bunch)

200 dollar boats are money pits that will cost you 5 times the amount of buying a boat that is already done.

So hotrod, after your own description of what you sell and make a profit on, I'm still confused why you don't think this old hallett is a good deal. I would think it'd be right up your alley. There's way more than 200 bucks worth of parts on that hull. I've seen a set emblems sell for more than a hundered bucks. Ebay changed everything, crap that you couldn't give away will almost always sell now. I'm amazed at what people buy on there.  Maybe the hull isn't worth saving, maybe it is, can't tell from looking at a picture on the net, but when you look at the sum of the parts, foot pedal, intake, trailer, st contol, fuel fills, tanks and so on it's a good deal for someone that is into that kind of selling.

I think the only one showing a little arrogance here is you. Someone who wanted to could easily double their investment with this deal, like you have. But it seems you're above that with this one?

Here we go again, I've rubbed old rigger the wrong way, again!   ???

Not enough parts in the Hallet. Yes, I'd make a profit. I've never watched the emblems sell so I have no idea what they're worth. The hull costs $50 to get it gone, the trailer's worth $200 (minus that previous $50 makes it $150), the intake maybe $50, foot pedal about $30, I haven't sold a steering control yet (but will soon, but it's an odd looking control ?), I haven't run across fuel fills worth selling yet, tanks are a hit or miss depending on the dimensions.

Ouch. I'd rather buy a $1000 boat, make $1000 profit, than buy a $200 boat and make a $200 profit.

Besides, my yard is now officially full and I have no room left until I go through the boats I've got.

Have a wonderfull day.   ;D

trust me, you didn't rub me the wrong way. We're talking about boats here and there's nothing being discussed anywhere on the boards that leaves a lasting impression on me. I just like talking about boats, what Ive seen and done and what I say is only my very narrow opinion basied on my limited experence.

Having said that, you were the one that said..."If I lay out $200 and get $400 back, that to me is an investment. I really don't give a rats asss what the actual dollar amount is, if someone buys anything with the intent to profit from it - "it" is an investment. Does cash buy arrogence?"

So to me at least you're contradicting yourself a little. Bottom line is I think it's a good deal for the right guy, you don't. Who's right, it's doesn't matter. Hell the guy that started the thread even lost interest and gave up on it.  ::)

I think that there is more involved in just moving the salvagable parts. What about your time spent in picking up the hull, removing the parts, being available for would be buyers? The gas used to transport the boat home etc. It all adds up. This is of course if nothing goes wrong bringing the heap home (such as trailer problems, tickets for non working lights etc)
All that shit in hopes for a 200 dollar profit. No thanks, I'd pass too.
