So what I'm getting from this extended exercize is that switching the intake to a 4500 Dom intake when using a dom carb instead of the adaptor on a 4150 style intake MAY be worth 14 or so HP? (Less on the scale Tom posted, only 6 HP).
I dunno much about technicals on boats, but I do know cars and a 10HP change can only be felt by the best of them. I would imagine even 14-20 HP increase would be hard to notice except on the extreme ends.
So therein lies the quagmire, why do they sell Dominator intakes at all? lol (Seems lke a waste of time and money to do so from a manufacturers standpoint).

On a 750hp 496 like they used in the magazine it could be worth that much

I tried a swap from 850 to 1050 on a small block mopar on the dyno, and it gained..... but that was on the dyno. I've only tried once on a boat swapping from an 850 to a 1050 and it lost MPH, but I think alot had to do with the low RPM it spun, and not so large cubic inch
