Potential causes...

Major valve float, piston meet valve head...

Valve guide tolerances too tight...

Hokey valve train geometry.

Coil bind.

Rotator contact onto valve guide.

Major guide plate misalignment..

Major hydraulic... Though that would be also apparent in the "other" rods as well...  :screwy:

Looks like valvetrain geometry was to blame.


FYI when drilling heads for studs, dont do it after you've consumed more beer than you are supposed to

done some work lately, and some parts ordering  O0

tips drilled and mounted for through transom :-)


cleaned and painted block, also checked out the new 7+ quart pan


Christmas should be here tomorrow and most of next week as parts start to trickle in
