stay away from expedition/navigator.  my 5.4 3v is the devil.  but the damn thing has literally every option imagineable. 

Yeah I definitely have looked at some diesels but just at the price range they all have quite a few miles and that kinda worries me, I know definitely won't be a 6.0 haha but let me know if anyone sees a good deal

300k on a diesel is the breakin process...

I understand that, but random Craigslist finds of unmolested diesels is hard to find let alone crew cabs in that price range. Like I said if you see one post a link please!

nahi understand.  i was looking for 7.3l excursions and trying to find one that didnt have some crappy canned tune or gauges in the apillar with the boost cranked way up was unpossible.  and the few gems that you did find were priced easily 5-7k over the others.  i couldnt justify spending high 20's for an old car like that. 

6.0 powerstrokes are great motors as long as you fix their weak spots (EGR and Head studs) and there are alot of used ones out there that have been fixed at good prices.  I did the bulletproof kit on mine and love the truck.

Be careful with the earlier common rail diesels. At the time, everyone was being told to "stack" the power programmers by magazines, web, and racers. That particular hot tune setup was thought to be relatively safe. We now know that pretty much cooked pistons and all other kind of damage. A lot of those injured trucks are still out there. Just my opinion, don't take any chances. Have a pro check it out before purchase. I used to collect the 12 valve Cummins trucks. I had 3 of them. Hands down my favorite, 94-98.5 with the Bosch P7100 injection pump non EGR. No smog, no computer, no soot recirculated back into oil, efficient, cheap to fix, plenty of power, and always starts as soon as you touch the key. Happy hunting my friend!

That is an excellent price for an outstanding truck. My last one was basically this identical truck but a 1995. I rarely drive over 65 mph and I averaged 23 mpg. These trucks don't last long. My 95 sold when a diesel mechanic made me a cash offer I couldn't refuse. People were always trying to pull me over trying to get me to sell it. This one here is cleaner than mine was and I paid 10K.

These trucks run forever. I have found them at the auction for 5k to 10k still.  The duramax trucks 8k to 15k depending on the year. Unless you find a 7.3 diesel ford  dont even bother with 03 and up fords. Even though you can get them all day long for 6k to 11k you'll spend that much fixing them.
