New Texas tunnel project.
« on: April 19, 2014, 10:22:35 AM »
I just picked this up on Thursday. Has all parts except a motor. And I need to paint the floor. Gonna try and get it done before summers over.

thanks. I traded my 21ft cruiser for it. I'm not gonna do anything special to it. Just clean it up and polish everything and get it on the water. My daycruiser ran but it wasn't the prettiest boat lol.

Congrats! That tunnel should be quick.

I don't know how if you're aware of this, but that hull is similar to a CP tunnel. CP tunnels have a reputation of being sketchy on shutdown. A lot of CP tunnels that I've seen on the forums have extensions on the outside of the front of the tunnels. I think CP actually built these extensions into the mold.

Here's a link that I found about it.
http://www.performanceboats.com/jet-boats/89570-texas-tunnel-resurrection.html

People make these tunnels work, just with a little modification
Don't mean to mean to be a downer, just wanted to make sure your aware that's all.

Good luck with the build.

thanks for the info. I didn't know that. It's not a downer. I like getting new info that I didn't know before.

Have you ever used rustoleum before? Just wondering because I also need to paint the floor in my boat but I want it to last and if rustoleum does the trick it could save me money

i personally haven't but my cousins build a lot of boats and that's what they told me to do. I just asked him and he said it lasts for a pretty long time. This is what I used. But gloss black.

i just scuffed it up with 60 grit and sanded the Peeling parts smooth and cleaned it up and rolled it on. Let it dry then rolled it again. It was my first time doing it and I think it came out pretty good.
