Just keep in mind, on public waters, a Lifeline is not USCG approved.  I ran into it one time, it didn't cause any grief because I had an "approved" flotation device on the boat. Had I not, it would have resulted in a citation.

Sounds stupid, but totally true.

Also keep in mind, Mercury makes two different kill switches.
One for normal open and one normal closed.  Mag versus powered ignition.

According to the site they are anywhere from 500-1500.

I'm thinking the comp vest would be adequate for some river racing, just by reading the specs. What's everyone running?

That's the one I was thinking of too don't feel a chute is needed

But what's different between that and my ski jacket?

I think it was jim mentioning to me one day that the chute can come over and drown you if knocked unconscious and is better suited to racing on the track where there's crews to pull you out of the water right away

. They can open and pull you under at the river. Chute should be used at the track only. I have never seen this happen but have been told by several people. A comp vest is a good jacket for the river guys. Call life line they sell re vetted used jackets I paid 380.00 for a used jacket that looks brand new.

I went with the chute jacket. You don't have to clip it off so the chute deploys but you have it

If you dont use the chute, and you dont plan to run your boat at the track. Whats the difference between the chute jacket and the comp jacket?

Lol, would if you do decide to. I have a very light gullwing so having it couldn't hurt.

Leg straps on the LifeLine so it can't be pulled off (as easily).

Gotcha. Thanks for pointing that out, I didn't notice when I read the description earlier. Sounds like a good feature
