chromey what have you found out from the insurance are they going to cover it or not?

so ill start posting pics later tonight....

i got the used motor all torn down and there is heavy pitting in 5 of the 8 cylinders that wont sand out.
from water sitting in there.....definately has to be machined....also going to finish tearing down the old motor to see whats salvageable......hopefully i can machine it out to 30 over and use 7 of my old pistons and buy 1 new matching piston...yada yada yada...we will see....so far no river for me!

Does it have "pits" or just "shadows"?

When I checked if from the bottom (you can only see 1/3 of the cylinder wall) there were just some shadows where water has stained the walls...if you can feel them, then obviously they should be addressed, if not, I would let it roll...I guess pics would help.....

Years ago, i brought an engine to our machine shop and asked about the "pitted" cylinder walls..   I was told run it... And last time i checked it was still on the water running..

Was also told pitted walls is a common thing with marine use, i took that as un maintained use....

SO I got some misc picks of my build.....pulling out the broken one, new one on the floor, torqing up the bottom end , and having a beer break...

if i didnt have to work, i'd be there to lend a hand.

Why you need a timing light, LOL! Still never put one on mine, used my basic setup routine, adjusted a little by seat of the pants, running fine! (Pm me and I'll give you my routine on the Fords, posted it here a couple times, lord knows where, but the BBF will fire and idle EVERY time!) Problem being so many different balancers, etc, etc, etc. makes a timing light sometimes unuseable. Let alone sometimes chasing the lines around on a worn out balancer.

i guess chromey couldnt get it fired last night...something to do with fuel pressure...tried 2 different pumps, still no dice. i bet he forgot the lobe thing the fuel pump arm rides on  probably somethin simple.

anyways, he is in a bind trying to get to needles this weekend with the family....so im lending him the southwind cruiser.

The Chromeys will be on the water this weekend afterall.
