After spending a couple nice looking pennies on a rebuild, I took the boat out last weekend and it ran great. Had to tighten a couple things here and there but for the most part from what I can tell she ran flawless. I did notice my temp would not get above 100. Like a dummy I didn't check while idling. Only when I shut down the gauge would climb to 140. Good or bad? I don't have a gate valve to reduce flow. Can a engine run too cold? Seems most guys like to be 140-160 and possibly 120 range and 180 idling. I'm pretty sure the boat ran about 140 before the rebuild, but then again that was two years ago. Can an engine flow more water being rebuilt? Also while checking the the oil filters they seemed a pretty warm, maybe I'm just being paranoid. I know they warm up, I just don't know how hot or warm. I just can't see myself paying for another rebuild for a minor overlook on my part. Sorry kinda all over the place, and I know you guys are gonna need more info. Any help is much appreciated

454 30 over
Mild port to heads and intake by BRE
I believe 10/10 grind on crank
Cam reground to match heads
Center riser exhaust
Holley 750 double pump (no pressure gauge)
Holley red fuel pump
American turbine at309 with inducer

You already know what in going to say.

Buy a quality 3/4" gate valve and adjust it at idle to about 150°F.

How'd she run?

Yup... no disagreements here I'm all about trying to learn.

The boat ran great as far as I can tell

Look for brand names like Nibco, Red and White, Watts.

Ace Hardware,  Home Depot,  Lowes, should all carry something.

If they have more than one brand, the one with the more turns full open to full close is better (imo).
