Hello, The trade off for gas mileage is the noise of Cummins, and the ride of truck. The 1 ton of the Chevy and the Ford is much better ride, (specially in the 1 ton). My father in-law delivered new trailers to dealers for two years. He said the Dodge chassis would fall apart around the engine and tranny. This is what the other drives of the Dodges would say. For me the ride comfort is the most important. I have a ¾ ton. (not disclosing the brand, giving a unbiased opinion) When it was my work, I drove 200-300 miles a day. Being able to talk on the phone was critical, and a smooth ride was number two on my list. Just my opinion. Good luck with your search, now is a great time to buy.

I'm looking for a new 1ton diesel truck and leaning towards the dodge but not opposed to others anyone have any input on this pros and cons maybe ? I do a lot of highway miles to the dodge mpg is a big selling point

If your looking at long term ownership, anything other than the Dodge is better.  Chevy's and Fords will outlive a Dodge.  Here in ND, they use a lot of Dodge's in the oilfield because they know that they will make it for a year or two and then they can trade it off before it really starts costing them some serious coin.

last truck was an 04 ford f250 4dr short box 4wd, traded it in with 75k, never had a single problem with it, hell it was still on the original set of tires (with some left still), i tow a 35' fifth wheel toy hauler and the boats (extent of my towing ), rode good (for a 3/4 ton) towed great, wife loved it, i loved it, great all around truck
new truck is a 06 dodge one ton mega cab 4x4 with a cummins of course, the motor is noisier, with the a/c on and radio on who cares (that is how most people drive right?) you cant tell, i have alot more interior room now, i am 6'6 and 260lbs i can sit in the backseat with more than enough room, and recline the back seat, all this with the front seat set for someone my size to drive, easily more room than my ford, the interior is not as "pretty" as the ford, i did not buy it for a show truck, my wife drives it everyday and has never complained, it currently has 81k on it, so we do drive the hell out of our trucks (figure the average out), the dodge gets good milage, high teens with the wife driving, pulls the trailer like not even there, and i have yet to have any sort of problems with it (except the wife finding trees with the tailgate and me finding the corner of the cab with the 5th wheel )  both trucks where/are great trucks, both rode great, i did move up to a one ton and it rides just as good as my 3/4 ton ford, no problems with the dodge body, suspension, trans, motor, nothing (knock on wood), as far as the truck goes, i would not hesitate to buy another one, the shit the company is going through however would make me buy a ford.  unfortunately toyota does not make a one ton yet

back to the subject   I just bought an 08 f250 super duty and love it   Towing my boat is like towing nothing, and towing my old ass 5th wheel trailer is the same, helluva lot of power    Mark

I have a 2005 Ford F250 Powerstroke 6.0L, I love it, My freind has a new F350 and he is not able to get more than 14 MPG out of it, while I can consistantly get 22+ from my '05 providing I don't drive faster than 70 MPH,

I'd kill for 14MPG out of my 2008 F350 TD CC Dually.  I traded in my 2003 (same configuration) and was told by the Ford dealer to expect better mileage from the new motor.  After 14k miles I am averaging 7.9MPG (70% city/30% fwy) which is just over half what I was getting from the 2003.  Great truck other than that.

i have an 02 duramax crew cab 2500hd 4wd i get 23 on highway with programmer cold air and exhaust truck has had a couple blips but nothing major i wouldnt recommend either the ford or dodge yes dodge has best motor, but the new ho cummings are getting a bad wrap the ford was done with the deisel market after they got rid of the 7.3 and their trannys suck in ford and dodge and just to get something straight the duramax is built here just the injection was copied from isuzu but bosh assembles it...if you wanna go all out get the f550 because then you can get it with a cat or cummings and i beleive allison probably be a great investment

I do tile & stone so a lot of my hauling will be with a load in the back and ive been wanting one of those over head camper deals but now i gound a sweet deal on a 07 chevy 2500 2wd with 10 miles for 23k or so just waiting for a call back any info of that truck

so here is my new work truck nice and low for easy access to the tools
