We had a cooler but nothing good in it if you know what I mean! They checked for tha basics like life vests,fire extinguisher,spark or flame arrestor,made sure my blower to suck the fumes out of the engine compartment works. You need to have some sort of device to make noise. I had nothing so they gave me a whistle. They make sure your vin matches the registration. One lady was giving me a hard time about not having lights but its from 1978 and my boat doesnt go out after dark. One guy on the coast guard team spoke up and said he had an old jet boat with not lights on it. They asked for a ski flag and anchor. They also asked if I would be interested in a boat safety class and I said yes since Im fairly new to boats. I guess you can do it online. I was nervous of what they would find since I bought the boat used and someone else built it. It feels good to pass their test since it was my first inspection. Im sure they have a checklist online.
