Tried to get it to start, fresh battery installed. Gauge lights work but nothing not even a crank when trying to turn it over. Any suggestions?

Does it click when you try and crank it?

No click when trying to crank, boat is in neutral gauge lights turn on but nothing as far as the motor. I'll have a test light tomorrow to try to run down the problem. If not key switch maybe neutral safety switch?

Try jumping the starter solenoid to see if the starter cranks. It could be that just the solenoid is bad.

Will do! Gotta hold off until tomorrow no lights outside my garage... Guess it's time to invest in a flood light

just so you know, there's no neutral with a jet, only fwd/rev and it'll fire in either. 👍🏼👍🏼 cool boat and welcome to scjb btw😊

Off topic but do u have any pics u can post of nicks old yellow hallett or that brown one u guys posted today? Both of em are beautiful I'd like to check em out a bit more

I don't really feel like it is my place to be posting pictures of other people's boats, so I never took pictures.

It's really a bummer, most of these boats I work on, I will never get to see completed or see run.

Just went through that nightmare on a Hallett bubble deck with a Lightening rail kit and an MSD starter.

Can you rotate it CCW (viewed from the picture) and it will clear the block and pan?

The hole for the 153-tooth flywheel can be machined entirely off.

Whynot76, thanks lol. Still a newbie at this. Running through forums online but it seems like scjb is really the way to go for questions and help regarding anything mechanical or electrical on the boat. With no neutral, I'm guessing I should use no throttle when cranking the boat over?

This is not entirely true-
Some are set up similar to a merc or outboard, hand controls with throttle...so it could have a neutral safety switch.

However, if it has a foot pedal, probably not.

Any better with the changes?

They helped but I can still blow it out if I flat foot it

Need a diverter and an inducer I think.

But I'd say it's atleast a 50% improvement

Removing the cocktail seating and going to buckets. Excuse the mess that my boat is in right now. Making a lot of changes and there is dust everywhere from grinding

I did some Redneck Engineering today. I got a head unit that I was going to put in the same hole that my old speedometer was in. Come to find out the head unit was 3" and the old speedometer was 3 3/8". No problem I just cut the back off the old speedometer housing, pulled the guts out, broke out the glass and made a perfectly good housing/bezel for my head unit. 🤗 No fiberglass work for this guy!!! Had a fun day mocking up kick panels for the speakers. On the down side I found more stuff I need to fix before the season starts. Nothing big just some small stuff that could lead to bigger things.
