Toes on the Nose

Brakes??

Hey guys....... just got this boat...... it came with the original '78 Roadrunner tandem axle trailler.
Problem is that the trailer has no brakes........ How hard would it be to install brkes on this (surge??)
Is this gonna be pricey? I drive an 18-wheeler for a living so I recognize the reason for having them.
Just thought I'd pose this to the local pros.

Panic stops for instance will aid in lifting the back of your vehicle. ass end starts to slide and yer dun fur.  A good working set of brakes will pull the trailer straight . Especially in a lighter boat. My .02

Parts relativley cheap as BK stated . As to whether or not they'll bolt up is another thing . The tongue will have to be cut off and have the correct one either welded or bolted on . I've always gone to Arrow trailer supply in ontario ca for parts . Seem to be about right on for prices and the peeps know what they are talking about .

If you need a new tongue welded on let me know, my trailer was 4 feet too long the last guy had a jetski skid on it. so let me know. TIG MIG ARC what ever you want

Note cant just weld it on you have to make sure the ball is centered on the trailer!

Those are the kinda prices I like to see. I have some holes on my trailer that need to be patched. Its where the previous lights were and the new ones are smaller and surface mounts. so the hole shows through on the top and bottom of the light. I will try to get a picture. I figure its worth about 30 pack and a decent size'd bottle of JD  ;D

My old '88 Competitive Trailer also didnt have brakes.  I took it to Accurate Trailers in Santa Clarita and had surge brakes added.  Definitely helps with the panic stops.

If memory serves me correctly was about $1100 because I went with disc brakes.  Would have been about $100 cheaper if went drums.

I had Accurate Trailers in Santa Clarita add disc surge brakes on my '88 Competitive tandem trailer last year.   It cost me about $1000 bucks for parts and labor.
