ISO jet boat in 5k-6k
« on: September 03, 2015, 09:15:55 PM »
Hi all, new to jet boats and just sold my I/O I've had for 6 year and has been in the family for 30 years. I have driven a few jets and want one so i can go below Parker. I am looking for a nice clean boat, that doesn't need lots or work. Full stringer's ,thru transom headers ,Berkley or dominator jet with a 454 and a covered motor (I have a little one) an open bow would be a plus but so far noticed that those are a little more than 5-6k. I've been searching for months and everything I have seen and visited is crap :banghead:. The two that made it to trials at the lake both failed. Any leads would be great thanks!

What type of performance are you looking for? Just something to cruise or are you looking to get onto the River Outlaw Top Ten list.  ;D
Are you looking for a cruiser with more freeboard? Or a low freeboard jet?

Does the exhaust have to TT headers or would a log and riser system work? Just as long as it's thru-transom, right?
Don't rule out looking at over-transom header boats. You could sell the OT headers install TT exhaust without spending too much.

Are you looking for a particular brand of hull? Brand of jet?

You should be able to find a clean boat for your price, but it might end up being a less desirable brand, but still a good boat.
The open bow might be tough to find in a clean boat in your price range, as you've seen.

You're coming up on the right time to buy, so be patient. Good luck.

Saw that CL add, I never believe pictures anymore...pretty far and that prices makes me think it's a project ... I know it's the right time , I've been seeing prices dive, I'm not against OT headers I just don't want to put work into it right off bat, plus wife's request, So i must oblige. I search CL every day guess I just need to be patient. I had a commander in the local resivoir last Sunday pretty decent boat , but the oil pressure gauge didn't work, he drove it like a bat out a hell for our test drive so that made me wonder how hard he beat it, and then at dock the starter wouldn't engage nor would it engage on the traileron after we pulled it out. Gave him gas money paid for entrance, and walked away. It was sad I liked that boat alot

At this point anything to get family from point a to point b doesn't have to go 70mph. Would be nice but just need to carry wife and kid around  possibly tow a tube.

Don't have a whole lot of details, and never owned one. But have heard they are solid nice boats. Most are heavier than its comparable model. But when you're not trying to get make every pound count going over 100, doesn't too much make a difference.

Just curious exactly what you didn't like about the bahner. That way we can search for something more in line of what you want.

I like the bahner, last two I looked at were junk maybe I have a biased opinion on them after that,  I prefer open bow  is main reason... I'm at river now and kinda thinking I want open bow commander/ elminatior somthing to handle chop better than a flat bottom.

Theres mine

All the open bows I've seen that don't require any work right off the bat are about $10k and higher... But be patient.. A boat will show up that you can't pass on

It's a little over your budget, but seems like a great deal on the boat your looking for.

I believe she is asking $4800, all I know is it's a 454 and it needs an oil pan gasket replaced. It's got a Berkeley Pump and its located in Tucson, AZ

How different is your hull (Advantage, right?) from the Bahner?
From the pics, it looks real similar.
