I get your point, PJ, and it's a good one, but there was no seeing this.
The wiring I was referring to was in the front of the boat, not where this seemed to have taken place as I understand it. As I said before, nothing dangerous was readily apparent, especially since the fuel leaks seemed to have been repaired, as well as the hilljack wiring. No less than 5 people on these boards worked on this boat, and not one of us saw this potential, and I am just speculating what happened. Could have been a million and one things, exploding battery, for instance. No way to ever find out for sure. And the rapidly depleting fuel was a brand new development!
But, lessons learned. Just as you are seeking a flame arrestor, and have apparently been running without one, works in progress can be deadly.
