the floats were stuck because the pressure regulator was set to high

If this is a flooding issue u can tell really easy. Fuel pump on ( if electric) or cranking (if mechanical)  look in the carbs- if the floats stuck or needle n seat oring not sealing you will see fuel dumping down the venturis or sometimes overflowing out the vents.

pull off your flame arrester or air cleaner look down the carb it will be obvious

Could it be a bad coil or ballast resistor? Or the points in the distributor? Ignition switch. I feel like its a spark problem

Blaster 2 coil with the resistor and a Mallory marine dist. It's all old stuff was all on the motor while it sat for 5 years.

Points as far as I know

Thats very possible. How long doesnit have to be left on for to fry them?

It could just be bad connection on igniton side of the switch and ok on the crank side. With the key on- check for power at the coil, if none, work your way forward and check for power through the ignition switch. Process of elimination. If all checks ok and it turns out the points are smoked- throw those POS in the garbage and drop in a Pertronix electronic conversion kit. you can trash the ballast resistor as well, and you'll never have to worry about setting dwell or replacing points again!
