Just because I am bored off my ass...Lets break it down....

Engine (long block) being really really gentle $3500
Intake, carb., fuel pump, and misc. odds and ends $1200
Gunwale molding repair (not replace mind you) $180
Trailer tires, brake service and basic clean up $600
Steering cable replacement $120
Oil filters, fuel filters, oil and tune up parts $200
___________________
$5800...

This would require some bargain shopping...You now have $12,300 in a boat you say should be worth $12K...But you have a lot of work in it....

This is if a shop did not do the work, so figure a case of beer (or two) and some Pizza for your buds.... $80

He did well, trust me on this.

Like I said before , I have no idea where you buy your parts at!!!!!! You are talking shop pricing as far as I am concerned!
Maybe parts are more expensive where you live!
The trailer looks fine to me , so do the tires!

I bet I'm within $200 on all of it.

These tires look original to me, making them at least 19 years old....I would not trust the delaminating looking tread at all...They are at least cupped from running low on pressure making them unsafe...

Help me out here, what are some price corrections you would say I need to make?

I am building two boats right now, these amounts are what I would expect to pay...

I have over $3500 in my short block before gaskets and sheet metal...Not to even mention heads..

I am really not trying to sound like a dick, but holy shit....

Anytime somebody thinks they can just buy an eBay or Craigslist motor, drop it in by spending $50 on parts at checkers and have a reliable toy, all I have to say is "Good luck with that"....

I am a realist, I like to assume the worst and be pleasantly surprised when it turns out easier than I planned...

My dad and I have built about ten boats together, all I gotta say is, there is always an ass kicking surprise waiting to come kick you in the junk when least expected...

If a regular Joe can get that boat on the water for at or under $2500 he is a better man than me.....There is no way.

In 1997, I bought a 20.5 River Cruiser from Harry Christensen at Advantage complete boat less drive train (cut for a Dominator) and rigged it at my shop and bought a trailer from my buds at Sport Boats, I payed $11,200 for the boat, I payed $1800(+/-) for the trailer and built a Brodix headed 468 Chevy with all good parts, I sold that boat as brand new for $28,000 to the first guy that saw it....I made almost nothing on it.....but it did have a top speed of just a tick over 80 with three big dudes in it....

All I am trying to say is, it isn't all cake and ice cream.....That Carrera Eclipse is not that that cherry IMHO....Nice boat, but not a "10"...Solid "7" maybe... $:-\$

When I bought my boat I considered it a solid 8 and budgeted about $5000 to redo it and the trailer. I have already spent that and figure another 3.000 before Im done and my engine build is very mild using existing block and heads. I think GT is probably light with his estimate by the time you find all the unexpected stuff

If anyone knows where I can purchase a Marine "BB Longblock " for 2,500/$...let me know.(With specs)

I figure if I sell 1 every day marked up $500.==$15k A MONTH WITH ME DOING NO LABOR. KEEP ME POSTED

Sooo Marcsrollin, add that to the total, clean out fuel tanks and replacing the fuel hoses (should be good for another $80-$100)

A complete Boat is always worth more together than separate...I never understood why so many boats get sold sans motor, makes no sense to me...

I do however think your big block is worth more than $3500, but I didn't say it out loud...(sorry Dave)...

Of coarse I agree it would have made more since to sell them together. But like I said, we got lazy. If i can get 3500 for the motor, I will be at what was our bottom line for the complete package. 10G. Did I mention winter sux.

There is always a way to do it cheap..... Doesn't mean it's the best and it is a gamble. I've built two boats in recent years and decided to go with professional built engines from a very respecable shop. Spent a ton on both 468's. Both of them let go within a year due to parts failure that were not the shops fault. Then again, I've pulled existing engines from boats that ran perfect for 6+ seasons for less than a 1000 bucks...... You never know what can happen...

For what it's worth, I sold two complete 454's, carb to pan, including mounts and very clean Bassett headers for 2500 in the last month. Both engines leaked down well and ran great with great oil pressure, but you never know......

I think Drew's boat had alot of potential if somebody had a mill already, it was just going to take the right buyer, and wala......
