kinda reminds me of a story dave
my last motorcycle race back in 07 i went to pick up my usual oil for my dirtbike which was yamalube 4r...it was what was always ran in my bike and so i didnt want to change anything...it is a synthetic mix i guess you would call it...and the cycle shop was out of it...well i wasnt going to race on old oil...old oil for my motorcylce is 3 solid long rides....so i was like alright i need oil give me some lucas...which was a full synthetic oil...well anyway about 20 miles into a 106 mile race i got into a course collision and went down...when i picked my bike up i realized it was leaking oil and my boots were covered...i was like oh shit! anyway i kept going...pulled into a pit and we checked the oil it still read good and did so the whole race, but come to find out it was the different type oil that found all the leaks...after and extensive wash i found what gasket was leaking and replaced it and has never leaked since...however...when i did the oil change my bike before hand had a little bit of smoke coming from the tail pipe and after the synthetic change it actually went away! my conclusion is the synthetic worked great for lubricating parts of the motor, but being how slick synthetic is it found a weak link and did leak! but i still run the lucas product in my bike now, and the bike has so many hours on it that it is unreal, and no rings no piston no nothing...it starts and goes and does what i need...i think 80 on gps is fast enough in the dessert
